Non vaulting- pole vault circuit

>>>>>

Main focus
•Rhythm
•Top hand reach
•Take off position

Start with
- Full warm up
- 3-5x 40m form sprint
-3-5x 30m sprinting with pole
-7x top, bottom, and both hand pole drop standing in place

Circuit
-Full approach run with pole
-3 step over head plant and jump on ground
-3 step over head plant in sand pit
-plant leg top arm reach 10 sec hold
Repeat x7

HERE IS WHAT WE CHANGED >>>

- I could tell this athlete thought he had to grip high to jump higher.
- He came into the pit stutter stepping because he was afraid of the box and probably scared he would slide down his pole because of his high grip and constantly landing shallow.

1. we first fixed pole size, grip, and plant. Focused on getting his last left down fast and hands up before his pole hit the back of the box. this set him up better for take off ✅
2. once we got him in a good take off position I started to cue “toes to the pole” and patience. ✅
3. focusing on a few simple things a a time can make a HUGE difference.
4. you don’t always have to cue “getting to vertical” to get to vertical. MOST of the time, the issue in the swing comes from something that is going wrong in the run and plant.
