Spathiphyllum ivanportillae is a striking terrestrial aroid distinguished by its deeply bullate, nearly black-green foliage with a velvety sheen and pronounced venation. 🌱

This species grows naturally in the understory of premontane tropical forests in eastern Ecuador, where it inhabits shaded, constantly humid environments with rich organic soils. 🇬🇶

Like other members of the genus, it produces a characteristic white spathe surrounding a pale spadix, adapted for insect pollination within dense rainforest habitats. Its morphology reflects strong adaptation to low-light forest conditions, making it an exceptional example of neotropical understory flora. 🌿

Meet Alocasia ‘Celebes’ 💚 a rare gem from Palu the heart of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Also sold or traded as ‘Keris Sulawesi’, this stunning aroid hasn’t been officially described yet, but it’s already one of my favorites.

With its sharply defined, arrow-shaped leaves and striking veining, it’s a true statement plant with noticeable similarities to other Sulawesi species.

Oxalis compacta is a charming perennial herb native to the breathtaking landscapes of South America, gracing the high-altitude regions of Argentina, Bolivia, and northern Chile. Flourishing in arid and semi-arid terrains, it forms small, dense cushions, 1 to 5 cm high and 5 to 10 cm wide, with very numerous leaves that create a lush, compact foliage.🇦🇷🇧🇴🇨🇱

Its resilience and beauty are further highlighted by an attractive display of vibrant yellow flowers, making it a true gem of rugged environments.🌼

It typically flowers during the spring and summer months, depending on its native habitat's specific climate conditions. I found this stunning species in may @boga.bern (CH).

Sadly, it had no flower. It is unlikely that Oxalis compacta would flower im Bern (CH) at an altitude of 555 meters, as it is adapted to high-altitude environments ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 meters. These elevations provide the cooler temperatures, lower oxygen levels, and specific environmental conditions that the plant requires to thrive and bloom.☘️

Deppea splendens (syn. Csapodya splendens), commonly known as Golden Fuchsia

It is a rare and stunningly beautiful flowering plant from the Rubiaceae family. It is characterized by its pendulous, bell-shaped, golden-yellow flowers with red accents, which grow in clusters. These flowers are visually striking and attract hummingbirds.🐦 The plant has an upright, shrub-like habit and can grow up to 5 meters tall.💚

This species is native to Chiapas, Mexico, where it was originally found in cloud forest habitats at high altitudes. ⛰️

Unfortunately, it is considered extinct in the wild due to habitat destruction, but it survives in cultivation through conservation efforts.

🍀Monstera acuminata is native to the tropical rainforests of Central America, including Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. It is particularly prevalent in central Petén and extends as far north as San Luis Potosí, making it the northernmost species within the Monstera genus. The juvenile plant is much smaller and heart-shaped with thick, roundish, waxy leaves. It can grow up to 30 meters tall. I can’t wait to see the first fenestration.🍀😆
