Introducing the first PLASTIFY public bench, made for Gongshang Primary School

After months of plastic collection with the students, we recycled 25.2 kg of Polypropylene (PP5) waste into vibrant, durable slabs. These were then cut, finished, and assembled onto a stainless steel foundation 🛠️

We’re excited to bring more community-made recycled furniture into schools, organisations, and public spaces across Singapore!

Let’s collaborate - email us at hello@plastify.sg to explore sustainable furniture and public installations ♻️ by @plastify.sg

We made benches for Singapore General Hospital! 🏥

Each of the 6 benches were made from plastic waste collected from individual departments across SGH

It was especially heartwarming to see SGH staff walking over with big smiles, taking photos with the benches made from their own department’s plastic waste. What was once destined for disposal is now back at SGH as something they can sit on and use every day 🥺

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the SGH Environmental Services team — Peishi, Nicole, Chloe and team — as well as the polytechnic students, volunteers and our PLASTIFY production team who helped sort, process, and melt the plastic.

We accepted donations from these departments:

Operating Theatres: 94.35 kg
Pathology: 129.8 kg
Pharmacy: 155 kg
Inpatient: 120 kg
Department of Emergency Medicine: 54.5 kg

Together with another 20 kg of plastic caps, SGH collected 573.65 kg of plastic for recycling over a few months.

Most of these were wet wipe bottles, hand sanitizers, and kidney dishes! (Mixture of HDPE2 and PP5)

With the help of the community and schools, we had to remove stickers, rinse (thankfully most were clean already!), and our favourite part…

ASMR shredding therapy 🔊

Shreds go into the sheetpress! Any contaminants would affect the strength, texture, and density of the final product - we cannot melt plastics with paper labels

Beautiful and flat recycled plastic slabs of 1100x1100x20mm

Curious how we roll at a Mobile Plastic Recycling Workshop?

We hosted BETTR’s company retreat with 3 injectors (Augustana, Black Bear, and Wu-Tang), and pre-processed shreds from their HDPE2 Meiji milk bottles and LDPE4 BETTR coffee packaging to make the experience truly circular!

The 50 pax went through an educational brief, and went through the Plastify injection process to recycle 6kg in 2 hours. They brought back whatever they make! 💪🏻

A huge thank you to @bettr.group @bettr.academy @bettr.coffee for having us ♻️☕️

Tag a store ‼️

We’re looking for furniture stores and design shops in Singapore to carry our recycled plastic stools on consignment.

Each PLASTIFY stool, which also works as a side table, is made locally from around 7kg of recycled PP #5 plastic, collected from public donations and our partners.

We are open to other furniture pieces in mind as well!

Every piece has its own unique marbling and story, and no two products are exactly the same.

If you have a space and think PLASTIFY would be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you!
