Help us raise $10,000 on AusArt day!

Now, we need your help to ensure we keep creating arts opportunities.

What can you do to help us reach our goal?

You can donate to our Give Now campaign. Any amount is appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible and will directly support Platform Arts' mission to present new contemporary arts experiences in 2027.

Installation has begun for our 30 YEARS OF PLATFORM ARTS exhibition.

From 22 October to 12 December, 30 YEARS OF PLATFORM ARTS brings our three decade long history together through an expansive alumni exhibition, activated archival material, artist stories, workshops and public programs.

Featuring works from over 30 alumni artists, this exhibition showcases the many people who have shaped our organisation through the years. Many first came through our doors as emerging artists, interns, performers, volunteers or participants. Today, they are artists, curators, producers, educators, technicians and cultural leaders.

For our 30th year, we’re not just celebrating the past; we’re building what comes next. Learn how you can help shape our future impact by visiting our website. by @platformartsgeelong

Platform Arts is participating in AusArt Day on 22 OCT.

This year, we are hoping to raise $10,000.

For a small organisation, $10,000 has real impact. It gives us greater capacity to pay artists, support creative development, commission and present new work, improve access to expertise and equipment, and create the spaces in which artists can experiment and take risks.

This AusArt Day, invest in the artists who will shape Geelong’s next 30 years.
Because Geelong needs artists. And artists need places like Platform Arts.

All donations are tax-deductible and will directly support Platform Arts' mission to develop and present new contemporary arts experiences in 2027.

Curatorial chaos returns with a unique iteration of After Walter Hopps.

For the first time, this exhibition will be hosted off-site at a secret location in central Geelong. This will be announced at our 30 YEARS OF PLATFORM ARTS opening event.

Over three days, artists can bring in new or existing works to be installed on a first-come, first-served basis. The overall aim is to fill the gallery from floor to ceiling, wall to wall, in a show that takes shape cumulatively, expansively, and with community at its center.

This exhibition is free to participate in and we invite anyone and everyone to bring in an artwork for the exhibition.

Artwork drop-off window: WED 28–FRI 30 OCT
Opening party: SAT 31 OCT
Exhibition dates: 2 NOV–27 NOV

30 Years of @platformartsgeelong
A known landmark for Djilang residents, the Old Courthouse building has been a mainstay fixture in developing emerging artists’ and musicians’ careers.
Beginning in 1996 as the Courthouse Project and evolving into COURTHOUSE ARTS, and later Courthouse Youth Arts, the organisation now known as Platform Arts has grown in close relationship with the local arts ecology. Shaped by the people, practices, and stories that have passed through its doors, and bolstered by a radical belief that regional artists and the work they create belong on the world stage, Platform Arts celebrates 30 years of cultural activity through a wide-reaching program with Alumni at its heart.
Morphing from its early foundations, Platform Arts was founded on the belief that young people and emerging artists in Geelong deserved a place to make, experiment and be heard. Carried by this ethos through 25 years of extraordinary work created by 12–26-year-olds across the G21 region, Platform Arts has supported new generations of artists to express themselves, develop their practices and find their people. As the mouth of the cultural precinct of Geelong, the building has welcomed artists, collaborators, and programs including FReeZA, GASP, Creative Collective, Voicebox, LAB, countless ‘in-residence’ models, along with VCE students undertaking performance exams. There have been countless concerts, workshops, exhibitions, productions, and activations occur within the black box theatre, rehearsal rooms, studios, and galleries across its rich history.

In 2026 as it hits the 30-year anniversary, Platform Arts stands in its strongest, most realised form: a locally led, locally focused, and world class arts organisation.

As our cover story this month, discover the contribution this loved arts organisation has made to the local arts ecology, and their plans for continued artistic support through risk-taking, responding to local arts needs, returning to locally-led organisational direction, and raising the platform for regional arts.

As Collective Mothering comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the connections formed across the season.

Across the exhibition and public program, the project created space for experiences of mothering and care—so often private or unseen—to be shared and recognised collectively. This took many forms: artists sharing lived experiences; intergenerational learning between children, parents, artists and audiences; conversations moving between the personal and political; and the wonderfully generous gathering of artist-mothers at Mutha Kucha.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Greater Geelong for investing in artist-mothers and recognising the value of this project. Their support enabled us to centre practices and perspectives that remain underrepresented within contemporary art, while creating opportunities for artists, families and audiences to gather, exchange knowledge and build connections across generations.

Thank you to every artist, collaborator, participant and visitor who contributed to Collective Mothering and made the project what it became.

Care is never the work of one person—and neither was this exhibition.

Platform Arts recently hosted our Mutha Kucha night!

A twist on our regular Pecha Kucha nights, Mutha Kucha encouraged artist-mothers in particular to present and share their practise and work.
We were lucky to be joined by so many local artists to listen, discuss and share a meal.

Our Pecha Kucha sessions are held each season. If you are interested in coming along or presenting please subscribe to our newsletters so see when our next event is.

Collective Mothering closes this Sunday, 04 OCT.

This season has brought together over 15 artist-mothers whose practices explore care, kinship, and communal continuity.

At its centre is the idea of mothering as a practice rather than an identity; one that extends with and beyond the maternal body and traditional definitions of family. Inclusive of diverse lived experiences, mothering is understood here as a way of nurturing, sustaining, teaching, protecting, and creating connection.

Don't miss the chance to view this free exhibition.

For more information use the link in bio.

Collective Mothering is supported by a City of Greater Geelong 2025-26 Creative Commissions Grant.
