Presented as an architectural plan, Luzi Paulin Simeon‘s installation is translating a spatial constellation into a system of lines, measurements, and structures. The burnt floor plan functions as a material residue of a space whose meaning arose from practice and now survives only as fragment. Symbols appear within: crosses and angel wings. While the cross remains legible as an iconographic sign, the wings assert a form of presence that cannot be fully dissolved into symbolism. In Christian tradition, angels mark thresholds between spheres: between order and fall, transcendence and loss.

The backstage area is seen as a transient place, “a highly malleable environment”, which gives this installation a poetic rather than nostalgic feel. An imaginary yet tangible place, a sort of afterimage of the impression the artist had, when the space appeared to her as a material to be moulded rather than a stage on which a story is played out; We are behind the scenes, after all, so let us enjoy the backstage atmosphere without expecting a show at all costs.

Julie Richard has forever been watching films on scratched iPods, on phones with dirty screens, portable DVD players (underrated device imo) and unreliable streams. This compromised way of watching was never about nostalgia, or rejecting high res, but pleasure and now method. Her paintings begin with images already altered by choice: blur, pixels, coloured glare, fingerprints, bad focus, distortion. Paused and rephotographed frames from films sit alongside photographs from her personal family archive as images that have already been through time, technology and memory before ever reaching the canvas.

In Rondi Park’s (b. Seoul, ROK) practice, lived experience functions less as fable than as ignition. Seemingly trivial incidents are stretched, refracted, and reassembled through drawing, painting, installation, textiles, sculpture and performance into systems of meaning that touch on myth, economy, and survival. Her work repeatedly returns to moments in which the personal collides with inherited narratives: like national origin stories or contemporary tales manufactured by corporations. Between these scales (ancient and hyper-modern) Park locates the artist as a precarious figure, navigating instability, responsibility, and the pressure to choose correctly when the stakes feel irrationally high.

Since 2022, Orombelli has been developing the project Sinopia, consisting of works retracing the preparatory phase of fresco painting, when images are still hypotheses awaiting definition.
Questioning historical techniques as symbolic structures constituting our surrounding imaginaries, at KBCB he re-presents through pouncing (spolvero) and perspective an image that lays down the same relationship between landscape and architecture he found there. Remaining suspended in the volatile pigment composing it, the work opens up the possibility of revisiting a past that cannot be seen, yet continues to act.

Currently based in Geneva, Nubani centres her practice on poetic writing, from which sculptures, installations, and paintings emerge. Words become brushes in a form of concrete poetry where symbolism, abstraction, and mythical as well as everyday references try to articulate the emotional relationship to home.

In Nearest Pond’s pieces, a crescendo rhythm prevails. In Where did all the blue skies go?, through a selection of video found footage assembled in sequence, humans, machines and animals come together in an ever-accelerating dance, the “Great Acceleration” described by philosopher Timothy Morton. Nature and culture sometimes struggle to share a home. Driven by the power they attributed to themselves, human beings rearrange the ecosystem’s rhythm as a selfish orchestra conductor. The passing of the four seasons doesn’t make any sense anymore.

Isabelle Morton’s practice is rooted in spatial investigation, not only in how the works respond to architecture, which they do with great sensitivity, but in how surfaces themselves are treated as sites. A picture plane becomes a room. A plinth refuses to hide in utility and instead insists on being an object for consideration. Painting behaves like display, display behaves like sculpture, and the work begins to feel like a stage.
