The first three pictures (3rd for scale, it is in the middle of the photo, being weensy!) are of a mystery critter that I only noticed because of the green flash of its a** in the dusky darkness, lit indirectly by my red light headlamp! So maybe its butt is fluorescent and not bioluminescent...Is it a baby centipede? Please weigh in, Sonoran Desert Critter Facthounds!

I met this male tarantula at the start of a mid week maintenance run at Sabino Canyon SP at sunset yesterday. He was probably out looking for Ms. Right. I was running up the shuttle road to get slightly more ready for the A-Mountain half marathon on Oct. 18th. The views inspired us both.

I did 9 mile prescribed early morning run with Dave (and I am still recovering hours later) to stay on schedule for our upcoming half marathon (October) and full marathon (December). This Black-Tailed Rattlesnake stopped traffic and passerby on the way back down the main shuttle road and was under the protective watch of a Sabino Canyon park ranger. The ranger made sure Sir Hiss didn’t get harmed by bicycles while trying to cross the road. The ranger mentioned a Snake Safety Strategy that applies to most things in Arizona: if it has scales, don't try to touch it.
Ok, sure thing. No problem! Long live Sir Hiss.

Hard to see but there are yellow patches on the 'shoulders'. This bird is new to the fountain as of the last few days. I am noticing different characters passing through lately, migrations are on the move! #whatisthisbird #namethatbird #birdydirdyintheskydroppyourpoopyinmyeye #tucsonbirdalliance #platymorph by @platymorph

I thought I had met this wonderful artist, Teressa Jackson, in person before, but I had only bought her art online and followed her on IG.

After years of art-fangirling, finally met her today by chance at the La Paloma Indoor Summer Art Festival! I thought she might recognize me even though she doesn't know me or what I look like.

I felt like we were good friends because I really enjoy her art and her delightful and highly skillful way of interpreting the natural world. Art connects us!

Teressa is now back in Tucson after several years in Phoenix and various ports in California and we are lucky to have her here!
