For generations, the boat ride to Ship Island has been a Coastal Mississippi tradition. This season marks 100 years of Ship Island Excursions, carrying locals, families, and visitors across the water to a place that feels both timeless and unforgettable. 🌊

The islands are part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, protected by the National Park Service, where history, wildlife, and white-sand shores are preserved for everyone who steps onto the ferry.

For many locals, it’s a tradition passed down through summers.

Tucked among the towering pines of Saucier, Mississippi, Fallen Oak is a championship golf course designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, celebrated for its natural beauty, challenging layout, and exceptional playing experience. ⛳️

This weekend, the acclaimed course welcomes some of the nation’s top collegiate golf programs for the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, October 17–19!

Hosted by Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss, the three-day tournament brings together 15 collegiate teams for championship competition, school spirit, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Spectators are invited to wear their school colors, cheer on their favorite teams, and enjoy tailgating along the finishing hole!

🏌️ Public Viewing Schedule:
- Saturday, October 17 | Gates open at 10 a.m.
- Sunday, October 18 | Gates open at 10 a.m.
- Monday, October 19 | Gates open at 8:30 a.m.

Admission is FREE and open to the public, with concessions and food trucks available Saturday and Sunday.

The 7th Annual BOO in the Bay Parade is taking over Old Town Bay St. Louis on Saturday, October 17, with a family-friendly Halloween parade you won't want to miss!

More than 1,000 costumed participants, creatively decorated golf carts, Jeeps, and classic cars will fill the streets with spooky sights, festive throws, candy, and plenty of Halloween spirit. From witches and ghosts to monsters and more, there's a surprise around every corner! 🍬🕸️

When the last light disappears over Ship Island, the past comes out of the shadows. 🕯️🌙

On October 9, experience Fort Massachusetts after dark during Darkest Before the Light: Fort Massachusetts Candlelight Tours, presented by Gulf Islands National Seashore in partnership with Ship Island Excursions.

Guided only by candlelight, step beneath the historic arches of the fort as park rangers and living history interpreters share stories of the soldiers, prisoners and freedom seekers whose lives became intertwined with Ship Island during the American Civil War.

Beyond the fort walls, experience something just as remarkable: the deep natural darkness of the barrier island after nightfall, far from the glow of the mainland.

History feels a little closer in the dark. 🕯️
