While researching a @roksandailincic catwalk show soundtrack, @danlywood found this track released under Erased Tapes and said “it’s one of my favourite labels for wonky symphonies and ambient, textural music. I played it back to back, 6 or 7 times on rotation, loud, singing in the car with the windows open. I even kept driving past my house because I needed to listen to it again. Think Nick Drake’s musical palate, with John Martyn’s gradient of folky depth and soul. I missed it when it was released back in 2020 but it’s the discovery of the decade for me.”

ON RECORD: AMY CORBIN, FOUNDER, KUDU 🇿🇦

After many successful years and projects in Peckham under the KUDU name, restaurateur Amy Corbin and partner Patrick Williams (chef patron) upped sticks and opened @kudurestaurant in Marylebone. Since opening its doors in September of last year, KUDU has become one of London’s most acclaimed restaurants, known for South African inspired European plates, and excellent cocktails from their gorgeous upstairs bar, Smokey Kudu.

We caught up with @amycorbin07 to chat about their move to Marylebone, growing up in a hospitality family, creating community and holding true to their ethos.

@bar.blondie - open today - takes its place: a wine bar with food that puts an emphasis on music, culture and community.

With delicious and artfully-presented pastries made by an expert team as well as an acclaimed modern European restaurant, the Lonsdale Road spot has become a hub for the local community as well as a destination for food lovers across the capital. Luckily for Playlister, we’re neighbours - and it’s a pleasure to curate Don’t Tell Dad’s music collections.

“‘Maybe’ by Kettenkarussell is a deep house track first released in July 2018. Initially available only on vinyl, it quickly became a highly sought-after record.

“What I love most about this track are its imperfections. There are subtle moments where elements feel slightly out of time or just off-key enough for your ears to notice without your brain consciously registering them. That deliberate looseness gives the record a uniquely human quality. In an era where music production is becoming increasingly polished and quantised, those imperfections are exactly what make this track so great.”
