Did you enjoy class with us today?!

In each PlayWisely class, parents have the opportunity to interact with their children and see their child's developmental progress, all while having fun!

We start our 30 minute classes (4 children total) with our Cognitive Card sets! The cards exercise focus, attention, memory and language skills! As well as introducing concepts of big and little, light and dark, one and many! We then head over to the gym portion for gross motor activities! Each week we focus on a different physical skill (strength, catching/throwing, kicking, fine motor, balance, rotation, translation, and striking)! Then, the class heads back to the card section for ABCs, phonemes (sounds of letters), math literacy, and foundational skills for early reading!

Our activities are designed to mirror how the brain works so learning is familiar, efficient and most importantly FUN! Our innovative curriculum and activities exercise early sensory, cognitive and motor abilities essential for all future learning and movement!

At PlayWisely, we are excited to watch and help your baby grow and achieve new things in every one of our classes and thrilled that you, as moms and dads, are right there helping them! We love watching you be there for their first throw, first spin, and first letter recognition!

Our goal is to build the developmental tool chest for your child AS WELL AS promote a strong parent-child bond in every class! ⭐️

We offer in-person classes in select locations and online classes worldwide!😊 Link in bio for more information! by @playwiselykids

Developmental wellness is the purposeful, age-appropriate expression of the many innate developmental milestones for sensory, cognitive and physical development.

We help your child pursue cognitive health by building and exercising key sensory system functions, laying foundations to enhance future learning abilities and experiences.

PlayWisely aims to build your child’s developmental tool chest of physical skills that can be brought to the play ground, the classroom and the athletic fields!

When your child uses a stick to hit a balloon, their brain is doing more than it seems. They’re watching where the balloon floats, deciding when to swing, and adjusting how hard or fast to move. Their body makes small corrections each time to stay coordinated and balanced.

Because balloons move slowly and unpredictably, they’re perfect for practice. Your child can track it with their eyes, plan the swing, and adjust after each hit. This builds hand–eye coordination, timing, and body control.

These are the same foundational skills needed for catching, batting, tennis, and other sports. Simple balloon play helps build the coordination and confidence that future athletic skills depend on.

This week, the 1911 Group Guidebook Spotlight features PlayWisely, a Dallas-based early childhood development company founded by SMU alum Haley Huffines Gigliotti (Cox MBA ’17).

PlayWisely delivers science-based, structured classes designed to strengthen cognitive processing and motor skills in children ages 0–5 during the most critical years of brain development.

The 1911 Group Guidebook is our magazine publication spotlighting SMU alumni–founded businesses across the Dallas area and beyond. Explore the full guidebook to discover the founders building, leading, and growing in our community.

Stronger early gross motor skills are associated with later executive function abilities, including attention control and persistence.

When your child incline crawls toward a toy they really want, their whole brain and body are working together. Their brain is planning how to move, their body is working to stay balanced, and their muscles are constantly sending messages back to the brain about where they are in space.

Neuroscience research shows that repeated movement strengthens the neural pathways being used - a process called ‘experience-dependent plasticity’.

When the toy is gently moved farther away, it adds a goal. That small challenge encourages sustained effort, motor problem-solving, and flexible adjustment with each attempt.

During ages 0-5, children’s brains are especially sensitive to sound and language.
A simple sound echoed back by a child is actually active brain development.

Most children begin imitating familiar sounds, like animal noises, between 9 and 18 months. Each time they hear a sound and repeat it, the brain strengthens the connection between what is heard and how it’s produced. That repeated pairing helps store the sound pattern more efficiently.

Over time, this builds something called phonological memory - the ability to remember and hold onto sound sequences. This skill is critical for learning new words, expanding vocabulary, and developing early reading foundations.

Did you know that turning an upside-down image upright activates multiple brain systems at once?
As a child works to orient the image correctly, the brain combines visual processing, spatial awareness, and motor planning. The child must identify the image’s orientation, mentally rotate it, and execute the movement needed to flip it with control.
This kind of play supports visuospatial and visuomotor integration - essential skills for problem-solving, attention, and flexible thinking. Repetition helps strengthen neural connections that lay the foundation for future learning

Back-and-forth interactions support multisensory learning, a critical process in shaping early learning and behavior.

Activities such as:
• naming objects
• counting
• participating in a structured group setting

strengthen neural pathways associated with attention, memory, and social communication 🧠

Watch our 2-year-olds confidently point, identify, and count footballs using our PlayWisely card sets!
