"Fairfeathers Blight"

Been a while since I posted anything other than figure photography. Figured I'd resurrect one of my old favorites by posting this again.

Part of the #fairfeathersflight series.

"Hi-Yo Silver"

Another old favorite. I swear this snail almost seemed like it wanted to be photographed, kept striking poses. I was very lucky to get this shot as close as I did. At the time I didn't have a macro lens, but I had recently learned that reversing your lens would allow for macro focusing. So
I flipped my Helios 44-2 lens around and got in super close to this friendly photogenic snail and he just happened to stretch up, putting that decorative yard light just behind his head like it was a sunset in a classic western.

"Horizon"

I had to pay tribute to one of my favorite series by doing this Aloy action figure photo. Can't wait for the next game!

"Heads or Tails"

The law of averages, the great equalizer!

Harvey Dent aka Two-Face was always a (possibly even my #1) favorite Batman villain. It was always interesting and tragic to see a character so broken by life and the system that he was a part of, that he basically just said "to hell with it all" and let chance drive his destiny from that point on.
This collaboration with my good friend @the_un_human
has been a long time coming, we first talked about it ages ago and we both kept getting distracted with other projects and forgetting about it. Please do go check out his page and give him a follow if you haven't already, he posts much more regularly than I do and is always coming up with great shots full of color and life. by @pleasantperspectives

"The Darkness" (Dave McKean inspired version)
➡️Swipe to hear Mike Patton voice The Darkness➡️

From the moment I saw the first glimpses of the game The Darkness, I knew I had to play it... And when I learned that my favorite singer of all time Mike Patton was going to be voicing the entity known as The Darkness, it became my most anticipated game. And for me, it absolutely lived up to my hype. The narrative (at least that of the first game) took a more mature and grounded approach of the character compared to the original run of comics. And Mike Patton absolutely ate up the material and gave an outstanding performance as The Darkness, sounding exactly as one might expect an evil entity that existed before time itself to sound to human ears.

This particular shot was quite the project. First I put together this custom Jackie Estacado / The Darkness figure using various figures and accessories. I ordered a resin 3D printed Hydra statue (about three inches tall) and removed the heads (all under an inch) and painted them with some high gloss model masters acrylic paint. Then I attached those heads to some wired Neca Xenomorph tails that I removed from their respective figures (RIP, their sacrifice will not be forgotten 😆) With no way to comfortably attach the newly created serpentine demons to the figure through the jacket, I have to awkwardly hold the tails in place using flexible arm clamps (which the damn clamps keep falling off of) But now it was time to shoot. Next step was shooting the picture with the demon heads looking at the mirror and sinks, multiple exposures to focus stack and get everything in focus. Then I shot Jackie on the opposite side of the diorama with the opposite side of the demon heads and did my best to match the lighting. Then I painstakingly erased the actual reflection (camera, bendy arms holding the demon heads, my shirt) and put the other picture behind that first layer and flipped the perspective to actually mirror the image. Then I added a dirty grungy texture layer between the two images and made it transparent to make the mirror look like a physical mirror instead of just an opening in the wall. by @pleasantperspectives
