I am so excited to play with all these awesome musicians tomorrow at the Regional Woodwind Conference!

On 19 April, @realisticmoment will host a wide range of performers at Leaven Community Center to celebrate woodwind music in all its forms. With 14 performers and 15 minute sets, we will have 3.5 hours of back to back performances. Some artists have performed at previous Moment events, some are joining us for the first time, everyone will make this event one for the books.

$10
All Ages

Leaven Community Center
Killingsworth & NE 20th
Portland OR
(Same building as the NE Tool Library)

I’ll be playing towards the end of the program around 7pm, but you will want to catch all the performers. This is going to be a really good show!

It’s that time of year again! Come celebrate the Earth with us with Films From Earth: A 16mm Screening.

Curated by the incredible Nyback Archive, one of the most important private film collections in the U.S., this program features a unique selection of rarely seen nature and Earth films.

Setting the vibe for the evening, Plntdd (DJ) will be spinning Earth-inspired tunes to get us all in the mood.

NYBACK ARCHIVE
The Nyback Archive spans over 120 years of cinema history and contains the original programs that Dennis toured around the world. With everything from rare musical performances to international animation, the Nyback collection is a true cultural time capsule.

Feeling a lot of different emotions here this morning, under a bright and cloudy Portland sky. My heart is heavy for all the people who are suffering from state sanctioned terrorism, fear and worry for their loved ones, food insecurity, houselessness, preventable disease, cultural and ecological collapse. It is painful to my soul to be wrenched back and forth on social media between genocidal imperial violence and cute monkey videos and the amazing art and accomplishments of my friends and family. It’s a lot right now, I’m sure you can feel it too.

In the midst of this, today I am marking 45 years of life. I never thought I’d make it this far or that my road of life would reveal itself in the magical way it has. I am filled with gratitude and love as I reflect on my journey and all the people around the world who have touched my heart since the day my mother struggled and gave of herself to bless me with the miracle of life. Today I feel strong, in my mind, my heart and my spirit. I am uplifted and supported every day by my friends, family and my unshakable connection to Mother Earth. I ask for forgiveness for the moments I did not rise to my best or was inconsiderate and caused pain. My purpose here becomes clearer and clearer with every passing year. Part of that mission is bringing people together, to find support, camaraderie, healing and JOY through music in community. It is in this spirit I invite you to join me once again for a birthday dance party I am DJing this coming Friday to celebrate the coming of spring and put a good blessing down on the dance floor for all our fishy fam out there.

Tonight 12/28 @turnturnturnpdx we are coming together to bid adieu to 2023 and gathering our strength for what awaits us in the year ahead. This holiday season has felt more surreal and disjointed /dissociative / dissonant than “normal” and it feels strange to “party” and also valuable to get together and move what needs to be moved within our bodies (including all those Xmas cookies) and re-align with the things in life that bring us meaning and lift our spirits and connect us with our humanity and all of existence. Bring a friend and come shake, jump, bop, shout, wriggle and twist. Arrive before 815 for a chance to enter the Mississippi records vinyl raffle. FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸 by @plntdd
