Small garden, big energy 🌱💥
Squeezed in a few more green pals—yes, the planting’s a bit rogue (odd numbers everywhere 😅), but it’s all part of the charm.
Every corner’s crammed and I’m not even sorry 😂🪴🌿

I’m not sure what this is, some kind of allium. It’s huge and the bees love it 🐝 #plotluckwithrichard #growyourownuk #newallotment by @plotluckwithrichard

Yesterday was my last day at plot 2B, shed key handed back 👋

My very first allotment, and one that came with its own unique set of challenges! It’s been a learning curve, to say the least, and although I knew it was time to move on, it was still a little bittersweet.

As I was leaving, I bumped into one of my plot neighbours, who seemed a little surprised I was giving it up. Apparently, I’d done a half-decent job after all! 😂🙌

Of course, I wasn’t entirely happy with it. There were still weeds in a couple of beds, and naturally, I couldn’t leave without focusing on the bits I hadn’t finished. 🤦‍♂️🤣 I suppose that’s allotment life for you, you can always find another job to do!

It was a little windy today, with the threat of rain in between the sunshine 🌬️🌦️

Still, it was time for the sweet potatoes to come home with me! 🍠💜

The dig started with a couple of rather slim pickings… but that soon changed! 😂🙌

This little lot came from just 6 plants! 🪴🍠😍

Safe to say, I’m pretty chuffed with that harvest! 💜

Wonky carrots anyone? 🥕😂

Not quite the shape I was expecting, but at least they’ve grown! 🤷‍♂️🤣

Potatoes 3 weeks ago compared to now 🥔🌱

I’m hoping the weather stays as mild as it has been of late 🤞 If it does, they should hopefully be ready just in time for Christmas 🎄🥔

A few more before flying home tomorrow. The food was pretty average, but the local flora definitely made up for it 🌿😍

And the absolute star of the show… the Hummingbird Hawk Moth 🦋🤩

From Madagascar Periwinkle, to Mexican Petunia 🌸🌺

And then there’s this scented Pelargonium… the aroma it gives off in the heat is absolutely amazing 😍

Finally got to see a hummingbird moth! 🤩🦋

Had to travel to Europe to witness one flying around, but it was definitely worth the wait. They are such incredible creatures 😍
