The last few months have been emotionally and mentally tense and tenuous. My 76-year-old father in life and ministry, my hero, has endured a series of medical procedures to address concerns with his heart. He underwent a Carotid Endarterectomy on May 21 and quadruple Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery (CABG x4) on September 17. His recovery has gone exceptionally well so far. To those who have known and prayed, thank you. Please continue to lift him in prayer as he seeks to heal fully from surgery.

This weekend was part of his 58th preaching and 51st pastoral anniversary. And, per usual, we gathered to celebrate what God has done through him for these many decades. However, this year hit differently! I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude to God that we can honor his living legacy instead of mourning his passing. Preaching at my home church yesterday meant more to me than ever. My heart is overflowing with joy.

In addition to standing for my father, I was graced to share with the wonderful people of the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Largo, MD. Thank you for trusting me, Dr. Parks. Thank you especially for your friendship. It was a pleasure to see the incomparable Dr. Elaine Flake and the many, many children of the Parks clan (especially my pastor, Grayson).

“All Ten Got Healed. Only One Got Whole.”

All ten lepers got healing. But only one went back. 👀
The same voice that cried for mercy should be the same voice that celebrates the miracle.
And there is somebody who still ain’t clapped yet — because you are part of the nine.
You cried when you needed Him. But you got quiet when He answered you.
You’ve been late with your praise. Behind on your thanksgiving.
 Grace after grace. Mercy after mercy. Blessing after blessing — and still haven’t paid God what you owe Him.
Because all ten got healing — but only one was made whole. All ten got healing — but only one was saved.
Don’t run the risk of being like the other nine. Walking around healed — but still on your way to hell.
God doesn’t just want to release you from your skin disease. He wants to redeem you from your sin disease. 🙏
