Nine weeks of summer at +CREATE Studio.

To the families who joined us from Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Ancaster — and those who travelled from Quebec, Minnesota, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and beyond — thank you for making the journey to +CREATE at the Cotton Factory and for making us part of your summer.

We are a small part of what Hamilton has to offer children and families within the creative arts, and we are thankful to be part of that larger landscape.

As everyone heads into a new school year, we wish our young makers and their families all the very best.

Keep making. Keep exploring.

AUTUMN STUDIO SESSIONS at +CREATE

A new season of making begins at +CREATE during the third week of September.

Our Autumn Studio Sessions offer adults time to slow down, work with clay, build skills, experiment, and develop their own ideas in a supportive working studio environment.

Whether you’re completely new to clay or returning with experience, our sessions balance instruction with the freedom to explore.

This Autumn we’re offering an expanded range of weekday, evening, and Sunday studio sessions — including wheel throwing, handbuilding, and broader approaches to working with clay.

Small groups. Lots of studio time. Room to make.

WEEK 9 — MAKE • SHAPE • BEGIN

August 31 – September 4

As summer winds down and September begins to take shape, we’re opening the studio for one final week of creative making.

Clay. Textiles. Painting. Sculpture. Building. Drawing. Mixed media.

Strange inventions.
Personal projects.

Big ideas and small experiments.

Make • Shape • Begin is our Summer Send-Off Studio Week — a relaxed bridge between summer and the return to school, with time for children to follow their interests, revisit favourite materials, try something new, and simply enjoy being in the studio.

Like the rest of +CREATE’s Summer Studio — MAKE • SHAPE • STITCH — this isn’t about everyone following the same prescribed project.

We give young creatives the materials, guidance, space, and time to really make.

For ages 4–7, 8+ and teens, with projects adapted to different ages, abilities, and interests.

Full-day, half-day and selected registration options available.

Small groups.

A few hours each week to slow down, work with your hands and become part of a creative studio community.

Our Adult Autumn Studio Sessions bring together people with different levels of experience, different interests and different reasons for working with clay.

Some come to learn the wheel.

Some prefer handbuilding.

Some return with projects already taking shape, while others are touching clay for the first time.

There is guidance when you need it, space to experiment and time to develop work at your own pace.

Across eight weeks, participants build skills, exchange ideas and become familiar with the rhythms of the studio—from forming and refining to glazing and firing.

It is a class, but it is also a weekly place to return to.

Autumn Studio Sessions begin the week of September 13, 2026.

Daytime, evening and Sunday sessions available.

Curious about pottery but not sure where to begin?

INTRO TO CLAY is a welcoming, full-day workshop for complete beginners and anyone ready to spend a day making with their hands.

Explore handbuilding.
Try the pottery wheel.
Learn how clay moves through the studio—from forming and refining to glazing and firing.

Throughout the day, you’ll have time to experiment, ask questions and create your own handmade pieces with plenty of guidance in a relaxed, supportive studio environment.

No experience is needed.

Come on your own, bring a friend, or make it a creative day with a partner or family member.

TEEN Clay Studio Thursday evenings 6-9pm this September!

A place to make things—and to make them your own.

Our Teen Autumn Clay Sessions give young artists time to explore clay without every project needing to look the same.

Wheel throwing.
Handbuilding.
Slab, coil and pinch.
Casting, surface work and glazing.

There is instruction, experimentation and plenty of room to follow an idea wherever it leads.

Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want to make.

Others begin with a lump of clay and discover the work as they go.

Both approaches belong here.

In a small, supportive studio group, teens can build skills, develop confidence and spend time alongside other young people who enjoy making.

THREE WEEKS IN.

“You can tell the kids are encouraged to use their own imagination rather than just following strict instructions.”

We call it Summer Camp.

But really, it’s summer studio time.

Time to make.
To get messy.
To follow an idea.
To change it.
To start again.

Clay downstairs.
Textiles, painting + mixed media upstairs.

Small groups.
Real materials.
Room for children to make work that actually feels like theirs.

Our first three weeks have been full—and wonderfully so.

We still have a few spaces for July 27–31, as well as select weeks through the rest of the summer.

If there’s a young person in your life who might enjoy spending part of their summer in the studio, we’d love to welcome them.

An eight-week return to material—

This is a space to expand how you think through clay.
