The final night of our three-day residency @cafeotodalston in January 2026 was COVERS, a programme featuring 6 works that reimagined 20c music. The performances explored a range of relationships to their source material, from arrangements and stylistic transformations to more oblique acts of musical reinvention. PLUS-MINUS ENSEMBLE × KOMUNA COLLECTIVEwith Francesca Fargion & Peter Falconer📍 The Horse Hospital📅 01.04.26The first half of this double bill opens with a post-minimalist work by Michael Gordon, written for the Kronos Quartet in 2010. Next, Komuna Collective performs Visitant, a new piece by Imogen Davey loosely inspired by Electronic Voice Phenomena, spirit boxes, and electromagnetic field detection. The set concludes with extracts from Adam Possener’s album released last year, featuring music for string quartet and electronics that blends influences from Bach to Beyoncé and Internet culture.In the second set, vocalists Peter Falconer and Francesca Fargion join Plus Minus for two song sets. Fargion’s pieces embody artificial voices, exploring the space between real and imagined performance, celebrating how dreams and intangible mental images are unique to human imagination.
