We are still in awe of the beauty, love, and joy that surrounded our wedding day. This moment meant so much more than just saying “I do.” It was the coming together of two cultures, two families, and two journeys woven into one beautiful beginning. What a blessing it is to honor where we each come from while building something new together.

To our family and friends, thank you for showing up, celebrating with us, and pouring so much love into our day. Your presence, prayers, and support meant everything and made our wedding truly unforgettable. As we step into this new chapter, our hearts are full and our faith is strong. This is only the beginning.

Chapter High-school! Every first day of school is special because it’s another milestone! But this year is a big deal! High school is a big milestone and I’m still trying to process how I was just taking you to preschool to dropping you off with almost 2000 kids for high school. I remember in kindergarten when they told me you’d be walking to the bathroom alone and I said, “but what if she needs help?” Now you’re off campus for lunch and maneuvering around your high school campus. You’ve conquered every grade thus far and I’m excited to see what’s next for you! I r trusted the process thus far because I know God is in control! You got this because God got you! Iyanna takes on Freshman year!

Happy Father’s Day to the men in my life who have been an essential part of Iyanna’s village as well!

Dad, thank you for choosing me at the age of 13! I was in an interesting place in life and you helped keep me on the right track by always promoting God 1st! From our car rides all the way to the Southside to walking me down the aisle, I’ll never forget the nuggets you have instilled in me! Thank you for always being you, which pushed me to be the best version of myself daily! As Iyanna’s grandad, it’s such a blessing to see the softer side of you as well. She isn’t as spicy as I was but I know with your support, she will stay the sweetheart she is! We appreciate you!

Pastor, oh how I thank God for you! You are the definition of one call that’s all! From my pocket dial at 2am in places I shouldn’t have been to mid day calls as I was hyperventilating, you’ve always answered and listened! I’ll never forget the time I couldn’t make calls for myself and you made them to ensure I had the resources I need to stay sane! I thank you for being a believer in resources! As you say, God gave them to us and we should use them! You’ve been apart of many of the best moments of my life and I know I couldn’t have done them without your prayers and support! Thank you for always being you & always saying WOW in the best times and craziest times as it speaks to the somehow each and every 👏🏽 time 👏🏽

Last and certainly not least, my husband! To be a bonus parent is a special undertaking! You didn’t just choose me but chose Iyanna as well! I never had to reassure you that we are a package because you always asked how she was and if she needed anything immediately after making sure I was ok. You never fail to amaze me in stepping in conversations and situations so gracefully! You are the compromising, gentle voice our family needed! I’m such an authoritative parent because of the world we live in and you remind me that balance is key! Thank you for being you! You are the best partner, bonus dad & dog dad pie family could ask for!

Happy Anniversary to my forever and after! Life has been greater since the day we met and I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of eternity in holy matrimony with anyone else! We’ve overcome being long distance and that three hour drive showed me that I would drive to the end of the world for you and wait long as needed to be by your side! Happy Birthday Precious,

Today, my thoughts of you remind me of the words of the wisest king, Solomon, in Song of Solomon 4:7:

“You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.”

I have read this passage, Song of Solomon chapter 4, so many times, but I never fully appreciated its depth until I met you. In you, I have seen beauty, grace, strength, and love expressed in the most wonderful ways.

Precious, may the Lord bless you and keep you, May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you His peace, amen.
