POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When your weddings save the date turns into an actual movie trailer.

As a filmmaker, we’re always looking for opportunities to make unique stuff. Save The Date films is not really a genre (yet), so hey, let’s do it! And let’s shoot it on 16mm film. On Capri.

We’ve wanted to make something really weird (and slightly inappropriate) for a long time now. A very vague trailer of a non-existent film. That’s the idea for this piece. We also made a slightly longer, linear film that has an actual storyline, but we really wanted to share this version. We primarily shot it on a Bolex 16mm camera, co-wrote it with @ramihamadi22 & at @marlanazzicone and simply had the best time creating it.

And still.. When we look at it, the weirdness makes us giggle. Ain’t that what it’s all about?

We partnered up with @viltrox to try out their new 75mm F1.8 lens.

We had a lot of fun testing this lens in multiple circumstances, locations and settings. The lens is very light and compact, which is great since we already carry a lot of heavy gear. It especially comes in handy when we’re shooting dinners and speeches. The bokeh is swirly and looks beautiful. The sharpness of the lens is very good (slide 15).
Since the focal length is equivalent to 112mm on an FX30 (APS-C) and 75mm (with vignette) on the FX3 (full frame), shooting handheld isn’t ideal, that’s why we prefer using this lens on a tripod for static shots. The F1.8 makes for beautiful depth and is perfect for details as well as low-light situations.

We’d love to help out a filmmaker from our community, someone who’s just starting out or doesn’t have a good prime lens in their kit yet. So let us know why you’d love to use this lens, and you might be bringing it to your next wedding.

Thanks to Viltrox for letting us test their lens, we loved it! We really appreciate brands like Viltrox that ask for honest reviews and genuinely listen to filmmakers feedback.

Lots of love,
Rein & Robin

Man, April was a wild month. We spent six weeks traveling between different time zones. We got our hands on a new toy (no cameras destroyed yet), the island was beautiful, Mark and Lilli were incredible, we couldn’t go a day without Olivia Dean, and the sunsets were insane.

And now we’re leaving this Tuesday for a 5-week road trip. We’ll be driving from Amsterdam to Tuscany, where we have 3 weddings lined up. We’re soooo fucking pumped.

Curious to see what you’d like from us? Let us know!! taken in Turks And Caicos by @plustwocommunity
