I said I would have Ravi pick when it was time to try out @naileditmagnetics Glass Bead 2.0... here we go 👀

His choices:
@tychelacquer Burning Canvas and Esquie's Nest
@hauntedpolish Witchwood
@sylvanclaw Sorcerer Supreme
@arclightivy Etherfire

This choice was a little more conscious than the last one, I'd say 😂 Stay tuned for the result!

paid / Can you smell winter in the air? ❄️

We seem to be getting there a lot faster this year! The trees have already lost most of their leaves. The polish people are getting ready for the holidays... 👀 That includes @artiemaepolish and @littlelacquerbox ! It's time for a sneak peek!

Artie Mae Polish has two offerings for Little Lacquer Box for November! They are:

🖤 Yule Cat - a black polish with gold shimmer and gold holo sparkle. This was inspired by the Icelandic folklore of a monster that eats those who do not receive new clothes before Christmas Eve. (Shown in two coats with a plumping top coat.)

❤️ The Julenisse - a red jelly polish with red, silver, and rainbow glitter. This was inspired by the Scandinavian folklore of a gnome like creature that dwells in barns and brings presents on Christmas. It is said that the Julenisse is fed warm porridge to keep it happy and prevent mischievous tricks from occurring. (Shown in two coats with glitter grabber and plumping top coat.)

Stay tuned for additional swatches and application videos coming soon!

Happy birthday to my mama ❤️

I'm not going to tag her on here for privacy reasons, but! Happy birthday, Mom! 💝🎉🎂 This polish is inspired by wildflowers and makes me think of all the local flora we used to see while horseback riding in the woods. 🐎 I hope today is wonderful and you get to spend it doing what you want and seeing your friends and celebrating however much you want to 💕

I'm so proud of you and thankful to you for being a role model and a wonderful example of how people can grow, adapt, and become more enlightened versions of themselves. Thank you for teaching me to interrogate my feelings, work through them, and generally treat myself and others better. I've learned so much from you, as a child but also as an adult, as we keep on the path together.

I love you! Happy birthday! ❤️❤️❤️

Voting nails! ✍️

Art is political, so here I am to politick. Go vote! Also TW: this is a heavy post due to discussion of trauma. The issues hit close to home, and I need people to understand how real they are.

Washington state is primarily vote by mail, so my fellow Washingtonians: if you haven't already, get that ballot in a drop box!! Please do your homework and understand the consequences for the vulnerable before voting on the ballot measures. Trans kids deserve to be kids and participate in activities that align with the gender that matches who they are, no matter what they were assigned. All kids deserve to be kids without being endangered by inappropriate reporting to potentially abusive parents. Schools will lose funding if we decide to untax the rich... Just because they asked nicely? (Did they really ask nicely?)

If these laws had been enacted when I was small, I would never have played sports. I may not have made it to high school. My gender has nothing to do with it - but I would never have been able to complete the exam required due to trauma. And when I reported my trauma to a mandated reporter... It wasn't reported. I lived in silence. I lived in terror that my homophobic, transphobic parent would find out through an unofficial source and harm me, despite the fact that I was a cis girl. I'm still haunted by that trauma, and I cannot imagine that the people who wrote these bills have any understanding of the consequences they will foist on not only their targets - who are children just trying to live their lives! - but on their sisters, daughters, grandchildren, and beyond who have invisible burdens.

I wore @lacquistrynailpolish to vote because I always feel more heard after watching Jenna's videos. I'm hoping my voice will be heard on this too, and that my vote will count where it matters most.

Get out there. Vote. Lives literally depend on it this time.

Happy Halloween 👻🎃 I'm twinning with @carolacquer today 🥹

Caroline has been a wonderful mentor since I started my Instagram, and a familiar figure to me well before that, during the time when I was only involved in the nail discord. I am so delighted to be your friend, Caroline! (And Lola's, even if that's virtual 🐶) Thank you for your time, energy, knowledge, and love. Thank you for tolerating me complaining about being sick forever 🥲 Thank you for letting me be a Halloween hater and making it more fun!! I hope to return the care and devotion in equal measure 💖 I'm so glad I have had the privilege to meet you and I can't wait to see our journey continue 🥰 You are so kind, inclusive, thoughtful, and funny ❤️

As a certified Halloween hater (...sorry), I'm trying to celebrate while staying in my comfort zone! That means wearing my witchy polishes. 🧙 I started the other day with Sorcerer Supreme, and Caroline was brilliant to suggest we do Witchwood for Halloween. So here we are!

This is actually the first polish I painted on my shorties! It totally changed my experience with glass bead magnetics. The contrast is beautiful and the polish magnetized extremely well. Next order of business... See if I have more magnetics that impress me this much! Am I unburned out on magnetics? 😱

You know him, you love him... Sorcerer Supreme 🪄 by @sylvanclaw.

There are a couple of ways I want to wear this polish, but glass bead went first 🔮 Fingers have two coats and thumb has three (because I bonked it 🫠). This time of year isn't super conducive to taking amazing pics that capture this polish's shiftiness, but let me tell you, it's there! 🤩

This felt like a great polish to wear in October as we get closer to Halloween 👻 It was also a very rewarding one to use for my first successful glass bead mani 🥹 Yay!!!

Here's to more successful glass beads in the future. Good choice, Ravi! 🐈

Do you remember that my right hand went square due to some bad breaks? 👀

They were so bad, like little rectangle of nail popping up bad, twinging nail bed bad. Now, those breaks are still here, just... Patched to the best of my ability and hanging on until they grow out, I guess?

Speakeasy Sparks by @mangolacquer was the first polish I picked out to put on my right hand, for a couple reasons: it felt like the right amount of witchy; and I had only worn it on two nails before, back in March. This polish was actually part of the same manicure from the very first picture on this account!

Back when I tried it for the first time, I realized I had incorrectly interpreted the swatches and didn't expect the polish to be what it was - and I think I wore it in coats that were actually thinner than I might have liked. This time, with shorter nails, I was a bit more generous. I absolutely LOVE the twinkling blue sparkles in here and the gorgeous purple jelly base 🤩 The only thing I might change is possibly doing glitter grabber in addition to plumping top coat - I love a super glossy finish, and sometimes flakies interrupt that.

Yule Cat by @artiemaepolish is the second of Artie Mae's offerings for @littlelacquerbox for November! Yule Cat is described as a black polish with gold shimmer and gold holo sparkle. This was inspired by the Icelandic folklore of a monster that eats those who do not receive new clothes before Christmas Eve.

Shown here applied in two coats over a clear base, Yule Cat is full of golden light and sparkle. I topped it with a plumping top coat for a bit of extra shine. The coverage on this polish is great - if I was in a hurry, I might just do one coat!

Yule Cat will be available through Little Lacquer Box on November 1!

paid / Has a "nice" list✔️ Presents✔️ Barn... Wait...

This is The Julenisse by @artiemaepolish, one of two offerings from Artie Mae Polish for November's @littlelacquerbox.

The Julenisse is described as a red jelly polish with red, silver, and rainbow glitter. This was inspired by the Scandinavian folklore of a gnome like creature that dwells in barns and brings presents on Christmas. It is said that the Julenisse is fed warm porridge to keep it happy and prevent mischievous tricks from occurring.

The Julenisse is shown here applied in two coats over a clear base, with glitter grabber and a plumping top coat. I love how sparkly this one is 🤩 (This is a common theme for me with Rena's polishes 😂 She's turning me into a glitter lover!)

It's my anniversary! 💅💐💍

Every year on October 15, you can probably expect a post like this one 😂 October 15 is not only my wedding anniversary, but also the anniversary of me joining the polish community, which is mostly what this post is about 💖 I was initiated into this hobby by my wonderful coworkers, which led me to lurk in the reddit laqueristas sub, which led me to the discord, which led me to Instagram! It's been quite the journey!

It began with my wedding 💞 My husband is wholly indifferent to nail stuff (leaning toward not liking it lol), but when I said I might want bridal polish for my elopement and my coworkers showed up with a bunch of polishes for me to choose from, well... We did a little tournament bracket 🤣

The choices were all @mooncat. If you're familiar with their polishes, you can probably tell what won from this post! I tried: Curiosity's Prey, Sheep's Clothing, Moonflower, Ghosts of Hecate. This was when hub's preference for "not flakie", "not in your face", "still maybe looks like nails" polish came through. Ghosts of Hecate remains his "most inoffensive" polish, but he also thinks it went best with the outfit. ➡️

💅: @mooncat Ghosts of Hecate
💍: @aquamarisejewelry, @leavenworthboutique

We did a "planned elopement" a couple hours away with just the essentials - our ordained person and witnesses ❤️

The autumn weather was perfect. I married my favorite person, wearing borrowed nail polish in my blue dress, which was a combination of something old and something new. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, with our favorite people in our favorite place 🏞️

Over the last year, I've done a lot of growing. Hubs and I have done a lot of growing as a couple, too (though we have now been together for seven years). Getting into nail polish has been such an incredible blessing. For the first time in my adult life, I feel like I'm organically making friends. I love this community and how positive we are with each other. It's a blessing to be here. 🥹

(This picture with my right hand squares is actually my favorite pic of the lot, but my page is not yet officially square, so it doesn't get to lead the post 🤣 Look at that warm by @pnw_polished

paid / Holiday funfetti? 👀🍰

White Winter Hymnal is @artiemaepolish's second @smidgenofus polish available this month! Described as a white crelly polish with rainbow glitter and green, red, and gold metallic shreds, White Winter Hymnal will be available for wishlisting on October 19th and for shopping on the 23rd!

White Winter Hymnal is shown here applied in two coats over a clear base, topped with glitter grabber and plumping top coat. I didn't originally reach for my glitter grabber, but some of the shreds didn't seem to want to be convinced to lay down, so I added glitter grabber to be safe. I really like the subtle sparkles mixed in with the shreds ✨ This polish is giving holiday funfetti and I'm here for it!

Nope! It's Resting Grinch Face by @artiemaepolish 🌲 This is one of Artie Mae's offerings for October's @smidgenofus! Smidgen of Us opens for wishlisting on the 19th and goes live for shopping on the 23rd.

Resting Grinch Face is described as a green glitter bomb with various sizes of green holo glitters, green reflective glitters, and green metallic glitters. Shown here applied in two coats, I topped this polish with glitter grabber and a plumping top coat. It. Sparkles. So. Good! ✨🤩✨
