🐨SFSC Aussie Skate: Adult Freeskate⛸️
Still can't really believe it😅 I went out there just wanting to have fun and do my best; after having covid last week and 3 days to get properly prepared.
I wanted to at least skate clean and to the best of my abilities, but to place - let alone win - is just the cherry on top!🎉

Smash was magical✨️ they even had my name everywhere🤭

I blinked and my fav con was over already?!😭 Thankyou so much to everyone who showed love for my Coco build💚 It was so much fun to sew and it meant a lot to hear so many of you followed my sewing progress🥹 (I can't thank @indigo_jinjo enough for her pattern!!)

I don't even know how to put this into words ...

My generation of K-pop was 2nd gen, the first Korean song I ever heard was 'Sorry Sorry' in 2009 and a lifelong obsession with Super Junior began 💙

I would torrent mp3's and rip the music from YouTube videos so I could listen to their music on the school bus (on my PSP at that). I would watch variety shows with no subtitles just to see their performances and hilarious antics. I'd learn fan-chants at home over my homework so I could cheer along when Korean ELFs would upload fancams to YouTube, even though I was thousands of miles away in a tiny Australian country town. I begged my parents for Super Show 3 tickets, I was almost on my knees begging my Dad to try again for Super Show 4. There was nowhere in Australia to buy Korean music at the time, let alone touring here; the Hallyu wave had not happened yet, it was before the age of Gangnam Style, there was no Blackpink, BTS, Stray Kids or Kpop Demon Hunters ...
My school friends would tease me, asking why I would listen to music in a language I couldn't understand, from a country and culture that was not mine? Why was I in love with these popstars who wore makeup and coloured hair and group dances? Plus plenty of racist remarks 😒

Now the entire world knows what K-pop is - and I'm willing to bet hard money than my schoolfriends' kids know damn well what Kpop Demon Hunters is, who BTS are, and the Gangnam Style dance. Korean pop culture has exploded all over the world ... Just know that SuJu and the first gen of kpop fans paved part of that path.💪🏻

And now, 17 whole years later, in my 30s, I still listen to their albums on repeat, I still remember the dances, I still remember the fanchants - and I finally got to truly join the Blue Sea 🌊 of ELFs and attend Super Show 10 in Malaysia 🇲🇾 Not only attend - but with VIP tickets with soundcheck!!!

None of this would have been possible without my dear friend @kdzlokester who was a ninja with booking tickets and helped secure our spot!! This has been one of the greatest memories and I'm so truly grateful we got to experience it together after so long 💙 I will remember this forever, my inner child is so happy. taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by @pockami.x

December is here already what the actual? 😵‍💫 I'm super burnt out from work, so I'm really looking forward to the holiday break. I'm also going to 🇲🇾Malaysia in January which will be a much needed holiday!✈️

🏝Nice to meetcha, I'm Rikku (long caption incoming!)
Smash Chibi was fun 😊 Such a nice, laid back con and the location was nice to revisit after 10yrs! I decided to wear Rikku on Sunday (instead of Sat) because the weather was hot af 🥵

Rikku is one of my most beloved characters ever and also actually the first cosplay I ever made - this version is the 4th time I think I've remade this costume & I think this my fav version so far. I didn't get my belt pouches done in time and there are some things I want to fix like new sleeves and new daggers, but I'd call it 90% complete! Credit & thanks to @tiddlyfuddly for crocheting the base scarf for me to dye!🧶

This cosplay was also a bit of a special moment for me personally; over the past 2yrs or so I've lost 35kgs [77lbs]. I never posted anything about my weight journey, because it's deeply personal, but I'm really proud of myself 🥹 This was the first time stepping outside in something that wasn't an XL baggy tshirt, and I feel like I should commend myself for being brave even though I was nervous 💕🌸
