I spent the last few weeks around Syria getting to know students, government officials, SDF commanders and victims of horrible acts that any average American would have a hard time wrapping their head around.

I know that some will likely question the motivations of a group of US military veterans traveling to a country that has been defined by war, or some other form of armed conflict for years. And to that my answer is simple, Freedom. It is a principle that I hold deep in my heart. It is more than just a word to me, it is selfless action being taken for a greater good.

I witnessed Arabs, Kurds, Christians and many others taking giant leaps to not only rebuild their home, but develop a Democratic system. A system designed to truly help & represent the people who fought so hard to see it come to life.

You may be familiar with the SDF or even the legendary women of the YPJ. But what you may not be familiar with is all of the leg work being done by many incredible individuals from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. ( @aanes.official )

Although they are safeguarded by the SDF and other partners, they still face constant threat from foreign governments & attacks from just about every terrorist organization in the region.

I have been fortunate to travel to many places and see many neat things in my days. However, the time spent, people met and things I learned in Syria will never be forgotten. I feel blessed to have had this opportunity and I hope I am fortunate enough to go back and help again.

Some trips stick with you forever. This is one of mine.

In the summer of 2023, I spent a weekend in Haiti helping relocate over two dozen children after a local gang tried to extort their orphanage. When the director couldn’t pay, they executed him and two of the children under his care. In response, I joined a small team to get the remaining kids to safety and document the mission.

While I no longer work with the non-profit that facilitated this, I am grateful to have played a small part. Those children will never know my name, and they don’t need to. All were under the age of 12 and more than half were diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. They were all moved to a safe house several hours away, where they could receive much needed medical and psychological care

Forgot Father’s Day? I won’t tell.

Very limited numbers of genuine USA-made Zippos professionally Cerakoted in WWII Frog Skin and Desert Tiger Stripe. Perfect for Dad… or the man-child feeding his own hobbies. Shipping ASAP. They aren’t cheap.

I’m relocating to a new state, so this will be the last batch for quite a while. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

If you carry a gun and know how to make holes, it’s your responsibility to know how to plug them too.

I never leave home without a couple ETQ Gen 2s from @snakestaff_systems on me. They’re small enough that there’s really no excuse not to consistently have at least one.

This build came together thanks to some absolute legends.

Old Doug with decades of experience chambering the .300 BLK barrel blank like a master.
@d.wilson_mfg for turning my napkin-level drawing into real CAD wizardry.
@lucas_52p for doing a URX conversion on a Troy rail that honestly shouldn’t exist and is worth less than the KAC panels on it.
And last but never least, @nunkick because someone has to be good at building dumb ideas the right way.

A short glimpse into our recent work in Haiti fighting child trafficking. This work isn’t always high speed, low drag. It is often about building relationships and giving the locals the tools they need to strengthen Haiti themselves from within. People asked me the same thing last time I went: “Why Haiti?”

My answer is simple, why not?

When I hear that children are in danger, and I know I can do something about it, I can’t sit comfortably in a $2,000/month Denver apartment.

And truthfully, I wasn’t. I’ve been living out of my truck for over a month. Even in my own discomfort, I knew there was work that needed to be done in a place most people will never see, places most people will never even learn the names of.

I spent over a week stuck inside a Haitian airport, building relationships with the Haitian National Police and delivering a few thousand pounds of food. But the mission was bigger than the waiting, the heat, the uncertainty.

We’re fighting human trafficking. Especially the trafficking of children.

And this trip brought everything full circle for me.

I was briefly reunited with a child I helped rescue over two years ago.

Last time I saw him, he was malnourished, sick, and severely at risk.

Now?

He’s healthy.

He’s safe.

And he’s no longer at risk of being sold, abused, or forgotten.

God’s children are not for sale.

@theavidshooter is the definition of a fountain of knowledge. I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone more passionate about long range shooting, or every detail that goes into being good at it than this man. I’m in awe of how much he can retain, explain, and recall without a single note or PowerPoint, diving into aspects of long range shooting I’d never even considered. People with this kind of skill and passion are often overlooked, and I’ll never understand why. Find something you love, and get so good at it that others want to learn from you.
