This is Maynard's Josephus A translation of Flavius Josephus, a 1st-century Jewish historian (born AD 37), not a Christian, who wrote important historical works such as:
Antiquities of the Jews
The Jewish War
His writings are valuable because they come from a non-biblical, near-contemporary source.
1. The Testimonium Flavianum (Antiquities 18)
This is the most famous reference. In summary, it says that:
Jesus was a wise man
He performed surprising deeds
He was crucified under Pontius Pilate
His followers continued after his death, they reported that he appeared to them alive again on the third day, and the tribe of Christians has not disappeared to this day.
This matters because Josephus is an extra biblical source, meaning that his testimony exists outside of the Bible.
