Race recap #1
@bostonmarathon race photos are in!
WHAT A RACE, so FUN! 🏃‍♀️🦄
Unbelievably grateful for this incredible and unforgettable experience!
This was my second marathon and I can’t be more thankful for how it went for me on marathon Monday!
It was a 🥵 day. 20 and ☀️
I read the race plan @torunningchiro @stridewiserunning sent me, a few times before race day and can’t thank her enough for training me and mentally preparing me. I cried every time I read it.
Happy tears of course.
One thing that was clear from the get go from the humidity, was to back off marathon pace if I wanted to make it through the second half.

I stopped at every water table, took a cup and drank and took another cup and drenched my back. And I made sure to run through a hose a young girl was spraying!

I made sure I had my @maurten_official gels and took an extra along the course just in case I needed it. And I did.

The hills starting around the 28km were something else, and I actually couldn’t tell when we hit the Newton Hills which one I was on, and had to ask another runner is this the last one out of the four, Heartbreak Hill, and he said no, next one and wished me luck!
On the hills I didn’t look at my pace, went by effort, thanks to the plan. I managed to run up all of them (slowly) and loved the sign at the top letting runners know they had conquered Heartbreak, that was a relief. 😮‍💨

My body was starting to slow down but feeling good, until after the famous Citgo sign and there was another little hill and all of a sudden my hamstring cramped badly. I had to stop and stretch it slowly and started to walk, thinking am I going to have to walk the rest of the race? It slowly went away and I started to run slowly and then felt I could pick it up again, thankfully! I had lost so much salt, thinking that’s why I cramped, had never felt something like that before.
That famous last right turn of Hereford and left on Bolyston and the last 800 meters seeing the finish line was something else. The cheering crowds and energy was something I will never ever forget and will cherish forever! @wmmajors ⭐️ #abbottwmm

@chimarathon race recap Oct 13,2024 Second World Major ⭐️⭐️
August 2, I was 10km into my long run and had acute Achilles pain. Couldn’t even push off my left foot.
I got in an Uber and called the Sports Dr. Got in that day and they did an ultrasound and there was lots of micro tares around my Achilles. Dr said to rest and doubted I would be able to race and told me I was the perfect age for a complete Achilles rupture 😔
I spoke to my incredible coach @torunningchiro @stridewiserunning
She told me to take a few days rest.
I then started running in the pool, and she adapted my training each week with bike and pool, she was so patient with all of my messages and check ins.
Then when it started feeling less painful added in some easy runs and then added more biking, and assured me there are different ways to make it to toe the line.
I had lots of people telI me I could defer, but I was determined to follow the plan until the closest to race as I could.
With strength training weekly and physio with @ginettehamel and massage, lots of ice baths and anti inflammatory cream, it slowly got better but my mileage was half of what I did for Toronto & Boston. No hills, no track workouts. But lots of easy runs and straight onto the bike in the gym. I kept doubting how this would be possible.
The bike was hard mentally. I like being outside, that’s why I started during the pandemic to be outside, but if this is how I had to make it to race day, I was going to stick with it!
I knew if I was going to do this race my goal wasn’t to try and PB, even though it’s a flat fast course. It was to cross the finish line and enjoy the race experience.
This was my third marathon, second @wmmajors and I was very nervous.
Forever grateful for the race plan and guidance, as going into it I really wasn’t sure of my marathon pace.
I followed it as best as I could, which was on effort and how my body was feeling out there and did my first negative split race. Honestly couldn’t believe it! 3:49:09

✨ Still completely overwhelmed by this unbelievable experience ✨

TCS New York City Marathon 🗽
3rd World Major ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Race photos are in! Hard to believe that just a week ago I was running through the streets of New York City in support of the incredible @TeamForKids.
I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for all the love and support leading up to this race. Together, we raised $5,800 CAD, which absolutely blew my mind. 💚

Thank you to everyone who donated, encouraged, and believed in me while helping kids gain access to running programs and a healthier future. 🏃‍♀️💪
Every text, message, and call meant the world. You all carried me through 42.2 km!

After carefully modifying my marathon training following a calf tear at the Georgina Half Marathon, and then managing hamstring pain I was honestly nervous about taking on this cycle. But I could not have made it to the start line, or the finish line, without the incredible guidance and support of @torunningchiro @stridewiserunning
Your coaching, patience, and belief in me made all the difference. 💫

I loved every single part of this experience, the energy, the crowds, the volunteers, and the spirit of New York. A huge thank you to @TeamForKids, @NYRR, the incredible volunteers, and every single person who cheered and yelled my name. That energy was electric, I’ll be bottling it up forever. 🥹⚡️

And last but not least sharing the experience with friends from @chixrunthe6ix and Stridewise Team mates! The best!
We can do hard things. Together. 💚
Thank you, New York, for everything.

What a day. What a course. Sydney, you are something very special. ❤️
Crossing the Harbour Bridge at the start, then later passing underneath it with the Opera House ahead, moments I’ll never forget.

Today was an emotional, physical and mental journey. I faced some physical challenges I’ve never experienced before, and at times, they were scary.

Running for @projectpurple and for my dad, gave every step a deeper meaning. 💜

But the absolute best part was having my family there with me. Their love and support carried me through. ❤️

Somehow, I crossed that finish line.

48 brought 8 finish lines and endless gratitude. 🏃‍♀️✨
Deeply thankful for my health and the strength to keep running. The absolute highlight of 48 was finishing the Sydney race in my home country, every single kilometre dedicated to my Dad. 🇦🇺❤️

SYDNEY MARATHON 2026 💜🇦🇺

The marathon owes you nothing.

It’s taken me seven weeks to share this story. These photos capture beautiful moments, but also remind me of how frightening this race became.

My 5th marathon. My 4th World Marathon Major. And the hardest race I’ve ever experienced.

I started running at 42, never imagining how much it would mean to me. Sydney was extra special: coming home to Australia, having my parents and kids there, and running for my Dad, who recovered from pancreatic cancer after surgery and chemotherapy.

He was my why. My purpose. 💜

At kilometre 27, everything changed. My upper back and neck went into severe spasm. I couldn’t lift my head, became dizzy, my legs were shaky, and I struggled to swallow and fuel.

Every kilometre became a mental battle.

My doctor later told me I should have stopped. Looking back, I understand why. I would never encourage anyone to push through those symptoms. Your health must always come first.

But I was desperate to reach the finish line, where my Dad, Mum and kids were waiting.

Of all five marathons, this is the one I’m most proud of. I crossed the finish line, received medical assistance, and hugged my Dad. That meant more than any time on a clock ever could. 💜

Together, we raised over $6,000 CAD for @projectpurple . Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this journey.

To @torunningchiro thank you for getting me to the start line and supporting me through this journey.

As I head into Toronto Waterfront Marathon weekend to cheer and support my biggest lesson is this: believe in yourself, but listen to your body. There is strength in pushing forward, and just as much strength in knowing when to stop.

For now, I’m not training for anything. I hope to run another marathon someday, but who knows when?

Five marathons. A lifetime of lessons. One finish line I’ll never forget. 💜

🎗️ World Cancer Research Day 🎗️
Running across the Sydney Harbour Bridge was an unforgettable experience, made even more meaningful knowing it was helping raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research. 🏃‍♀️🌉

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated and supported this cause. Together, we raised $6,067 Canadian for @projectpurple through the @sydney_marathon! 💜

Let’s keep pushing for a world without pancreatic cancer. 💜

No marathon training on the books 📚
Just a little black dress, heels, and a wedding at the Toronto Reference Library. 🖤✨

Legs not tired from training… just from dancing the night away. 💃🥂

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

I started running during the pandemic, and it’s become so much more than just a sport. 🏃‍♀️

Yes, I love standing at the start line of a race, but running has also become a huge part of my mental health and how I manage stress.

🍂 Fall is my favourite time to run. And when there’s no race on the calendar, no goals to chase, it’s simply about running to free my mind.

Because not every run needs a finish line. Sometimes, you just need to put one foot in front of the other and let your mind breathe. ❤️
