Helping you travel with points, not cash.💸
I've been traveling with points since 2015 and Im showing you how to do it too.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In 2015, a coworker shared with me about how he traveled to Hawaii with points. I had heard of the concept of using points to travel, but I had no idea how it was done. I had just gotten a Wells Fargo credit card that earned some points, but he shook his head and said that card can't do what a @chase card can do.

I said, "tell me more" and the rest is history.

Since then, I've traveled to Hawaii 7 times, Lake Tahoe 3 times, and Vegas countless times using points to pay for flights and hotels and I'm gonna show you how you can do it too.

My name is Mario and I've been a high school math teacher since 2002. I didn't start traveling until 2015 for 2 reasons:
1. I didn't have money for travel.
2. I refused to save money for travel.

I didn't want to save my hard earned money for a week in Hawaii. So I just stayed home or went to Las Vegas once a year. But that all changed in 2015.

Follow for more details as I share my journey.

Hello, today is day 3 of my commitment to post daily for the month of August.

Today I talk about the two chase cards that I used to get started in traveling with points.
They are the Chase Freedom (Flex or Unlimited) &
the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Links are in my bio and I do get points if you use my referral link.

The Freedom card is advertised as $200 cash back bonus, but that also means 20k pts.
For the Sapphire Preferred the bonus is 75k pts, which can also be converted to $750 but $750 won't be enough to book more than 2 nights in Hawaii. 75k pts will get you about 5 nights in Hawaii.

IMPORTANT!!! One thing that needs to be said is that you must make sure you are able to pay off your balance off each month. Do not go into DEBT. I have zero debt and have not paid a single penny in interest ever since I started the points game. The only way to win in the points game is to make sure you're traveling for free! You don't want to pay the credit card companies a single penny in fees. Let them pay you with points so you can travel for free!!!

Hi, my name is Mario and I made a commitment to post every day this month showing how I was able to travel with points and how you can do it too.

My journey actually started in Nov 2014 when I applied for the @chasesapphire card. The bonus offer was 60k points and that was only enough points to cover 2 round trip flights on @americanair. We paid $996 for the Airbnb and $192 for the car rental. That was for 7 days and nights in July 2015.

The money we saved on flights was money we could use for food and activities, like luaus, souvenirs and anything else. This first trip to Hawaii was the most we ever paid because we paid for the Airbnb and car rental. Eventually, I would pay for all three (flights, hotel and car rental) with points saving myself thousands of dollars.

And I'm gonna show you how to do it without webinars and without courses. All will be shared on my posts for anyone to learn.

Like and follow for the details.

Aloha,
Mario

You know teachers don't make a lot of money! Thankfully all you need is good credit to travel places! My favorite spot is Hawaii and I am able to go there not because I have lots of money, but because I have lots of points that I earn from travel cards and the only way to get approved for those travel credit cards is to have good credit!
We just set aside about $1000 for dining, souvenirs and activities for the 5 days were there. The hotel, car and flights are all paid for with points earned. by @pointsnotcash

Best time of the year to go to Hawaii is summertime!

Public Access: You do not need to be a guest at the hotel to see them; anyone can walk through the lobby to view the habitat.

Elevated offer alert.
Chase Freedom Flex is offering $250 cash back (25k pts) after spending $500 in 3 months.
The offer is usually $200 cash back so this is a great offer.

Chase Sapphire Preferred points will now have less value starting Oct 1.
The transfer rate used to be 1:1, which meant 25k chase pts could book your a 25k pt Hyatt room, but now 25k chase pts would equal 18750 pts..
In other words, you lose 25% of your points when transferring.
That makes the CSP card not a good card to keep if you plan on booking Hyatt stays.
Fortunately, the Chase Sapphire Reserve still transfers at 1:1,but comes at a highest annual fee. $795 compared to CSP's $95 annual fee. by @pointsnotcash
