We used to drive 20+ hours to Utah because flying felt out of reach for our budget.

Now we’ve been to Costa Rica, Hawaii, Arizona, Florida and Italy is next — almost entirely on points.

Here’s the part that still gets me: we aren’t doing anything special. We just put our normal everyday spending on the right card. Groceries. Bills. Everything.

Our first full points trip — Costa Rica — three flights for our family for $168 out of pocket.

I think any family can start where we started.

Save this post.

Slide 5 is the Costa Rica breakdown.

And follow along — Italy is getting booked entirely on points and I’m documenting every step. 🌍

👋🏼 I’m Bri— a travel loving mom of two. I beginner friendly points strategies.

My roundtrip flight was $84. I used points for the rest and only paid the taxes.

I didn’t find a mistake fare.

Not luck.

Just used points strategically.

This is what points travel actually look like in real life — not a lounge, not a first class seat. A jungle pulley in a rainstorm, grinning because you know what you paid (or didn’t) to get here.

Hawaii is stunning, no argument there 🌺 But Manuel Antonio has actual wild monkeys swinging through the trees — natural entertainment.

The best part? we didn’t pay anywhere close to full price to see it.

Comment MONKEY and I’ll send you my free guide on how we make family travel like this possible 🐒

When Brandon first heard about points, he didn’t think it was actually possible.

He’s a logical thinker — banks handing out free flights just didn’t add up to him.

Then he was sliding through the Costa Rican jungle on a flight that cost less than our weekly grocery run 🛝

$84 round trip ✈️

Comment FLIGHT and I’ll send you the exact guide we used to book it ✅

$Brandon had a work conference, and when I found flights for $5.60 each, we figured — why not make it a family trip? A $5.60 flight isn’t going to fix my to-do list or my toddler’s nap schedule. But why not book the trip when I can do it for a fraction of the cost? This is what happens when you actually use the points you’re already earning on everyday spending instead of letting them sit there. We’ve taken our kids places we never thought would fit in our budget — because we stopped saying “maybe next time” and started booking. Follow along if you’re ready to do the same 💛✈️ #pointsandmiles #creditcardpoints #pointstravel #budgetfamilytravel #travelhacking by @pointswithbri$

If you’re still using a debit card for everyday spending, you’re leaving free travel on the table.

I used to think using a debit card was simpler. Turns out I was missing the biggest lever in discounted travel — credit card welcome offers.

One well-timed credit card bonus can cover flights or a hotel stay you’d normally save months for. That’s how we travel multiple times a year without spending anything close to what it “should” cost.

You don’t need to be a points expert. You just need to stop using that debit card. 👀

We just booked round-trip flights to Italy for $76 each. 🇮🇹✈️

One welcome offer. One card. First-year fee waived, so we’re about $150 total for both flights.

This is what points travel can look like when you know where to start — flights that used to feel impossible becoming this year’s trip.

If you’re ready for Italy to move from someday to booked — comment ITALY and I’ll send you the exact card we used. No guesswork, just the link.

You arrive in Costa Rica during rainy season… 🌧️🇨🇷

But honestly? Still worth it 🦥 🌴

This is the kind of family trip we never could’ve justified paying full cash for.

Good thing we don’t have to 👀✈️

Follow along and I’ll show you how we make trips like this happen 🌎✨

And this is exactly why I’m obsessed with points and miles. 😂

That flight would’ve cost us 40K Delta SkyMiles (or $439 in cash! 😟), but instead we transferred 18K Capital One miles and saved 22K miles (and hundreds of $$$).

Traveling with kids doesn’t have to mean spending thousands on flights.

Once you learn how to find award flights and transfer points strategically, you can turn everyday spending into family adventures ⛰️

$90 groceries for the week. $84 RT flight to Costa Rica.

This is the part nobody believes until they see it themselves — using credit card points(responsibly!) can make flights cost less than a normal week of errands.

Not magic, not luck. Just knowing which cards to open and how to use your points.

You open the card, I’ll teach you the strategy.

Ready to actually learn this instead of guessing? Comment POINTS and I’ll send you where to start 🦋

There’s a reason we could afford to take our family to Costa Rica… and it’s not because we’re mega rich 🇨🇷

Family travel adds up FAST. Flights, hotels, food, activities… suddenly that “dream vacation” costs thousands.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be taking my kids to Costa Rica—but we made it happen by learning how to use credit card points and travel rewards.

💰 Paying cash? This trip easily could’ve cost us $3,000+.

Instead:

✈️ Our flights were $84 roundtrip EACH.

And no, you don’t need to be rich or travel constantly to start using points for family travel.

You just need to know how to use the points you’re already earning.

If you want to travel more with your family, save money on flights and hotels, and learn how to travel with points, follow me. ✈️🌎

I’ll show you exactly how we do it—without spending your kids’ future college fund
