Today the @youngloskateproject teamed up with @flintridgecenter #YOUTH OF PROMISE program to do some good ol fashioned community service.
Today 17 kids showed up and volunteered to to help make 30 gift bags full of bubbles,candy & toys and 30 puppets for 30 kids.
And as chaotic as it can get sometimes with 17 teens these little gremlins always somehow seem to pull together and complete the assignment. Makes me proud of all of them.
I recently pitched an idea to a certain library to try to help get kids ages 5-12 more involved with their local library as well as interested in reading more. If they check out a book with their library card mention the YLSP they get a gift bag full of goodies, toys and a custom made, one of a kind bookmark and puppet made by the hands of the children of #Pasadena.
If they read & return the book on time they will be entered in a raffle for a complete skateboard and safety gear.
Our aim is to save as many kids from the streets as we can. I believe reading at an early age sets them on the right path.
These kids in these pictures, whether they know it or not are changing the world. This is what making a difference looks like.
Special thank you to everyone at the Flintridge center for inviting us and opening up their facility and allowing the kids to participate with us.

Today the @youngloskateproject community service program met and today we made almost 40 bookmarks!!!
I have a plan to get kids ages 5-12 interested in reading. I have a whole 30 day challenge i created for the kids with a crazy raffle if they complete it. I already emailed the head librarian we're waiting for approval from her boss
This is step one. Lol.

Imagine trying to get 19 kids to make bookmarks haha its almost impossible. But the group held it down and completed the mission. Im super proud of them. The group is growing like wildfire and I love it!!
All these bookmarks will go to the children of La Pintaresca #Library.

Shout out to @myownselfaswell for being everything everywhere all at once. Lol. !!

Today we dropped off the pumpkins at the school!!!! From @delapumpkinsandtrees
How fun. I love seeing teachers going out of their way to make the kids happy. I love seeing parents getting involved with the PTA. I love being able to add a little bit of youngLo into the mix. @nick.oyagha you and your family are amazing!! Im so happy to see you guys.

If you have the means and ability to put smiles on faces then it is your duty to do so.
I promise its worth it.
Holidays are the best because good people made them possible. Its our turn.

@youngloskateproject got the word that a certain elementary school needed #pumpkins and it just so happens that one of my closest friends and his family run the pumpkin patch at the Santa Anita Mall. @delapumpkinsandtrees
I rolled over there and played all the games and took pictures lol & had waaaay too much fun picking out the pumpkins for sure!!! Super nostalgic. I felt like a kid again. The fact that each pumpkin i picked will go into the hands of an angel made it special. I was honored to help.

Yesterday I met with the community service program kids and made 33 lunches for the #pasadena union station homeless shelter.
These kids meet up with us, joke around, talk smack to each other, act wild and all, but they also show restraint and compassion. When they finally calm down, listen and work together they change lives.
Literally!!!
We heal society. We are the solution. We love our city so much we're finding its darkest parts and bringing light to it. These kids are heros.
Before i even got to the shelter I was passing these out feeding people. One guy was so happy he asked for another bag. The other looked like he was waiting for a miracle and almost cried when I hooked him up.
It gets super emotional. I don't post pictures of the people out of respect but their faces says it all.

I do this because one day these kids will realize that they were the answers to someone's prayers. That while they were messing around having fun in the park with their friends doing all this that they were really doing God's work. And I am so proud of them for that.

Today i met with the youngsters of the @youngloskateproject at our home base.
We usually meet 2 to 3 times a week. I try to expose the kids to community service such as...
●making cat beds
●making sack lunches for the un-housed
●visiting senior citizens

But today I felt compelled to talk about #BULLYING

What happened at Franklin in Highland Park a couple days ago was an absolute tragedy. Im not going to voice my opinion or point fingers, im going to teach qll the kids that I can about...
●what to do if you're being #BULLIED
●what to do if you see someone being #BULLIED
●who to contact if so.

I did a bunch of research, put together these papers and passed them out to the kids and then we had about an hour and a half conversation about it.
Its what we all should be doing right now.

Dear bullies,
every kid you "bully" has a Dad, uncles & cousins that have friends. Its only a matter of time b4 they find out & retaliate.

Dear spectators,
Put your phones down. Do something that might help. You could save a life.

The most important thing on this earth is our children. Its our responsibility to raise them to be good people. Its our duty to protect them. Sometimes we must arm them with information and educate them on the world around them.
Read these papers.

Sometimes kindness also finds its way back to me!!!
My boy @diembeats surprised me with these dope af @youngloskateproject t-shirts just because!!
Out the kindness of his heart he put an image that my czn @j.maresart made and put it on 3 different shirts displayed 3 different ways. Each one different.
He also told me if I needed anything else to let him know and when I asked him if there's ever I can do anything for him his response was, "you're already doing it".
I cried a little bit. Lol
Because battle rap built stronger friendships than dug habbits. Love this guy!!!!! by @pokeylo

Before I tell you how exciting it was or how much fun we had i would like to thank,

@tyronhampton city Councilmen of District 1 and Officer Eric Riddle and Corporal Alex Torres from the @pasadenapd as well as Comander Bill Grisafe for stepping up when our transportation backed out on 20 kids from #Pasadena district 1 and I.
When our bus backed out on us the day before yesterday's game i felt sick. A whole month of promises and anticipation for the game for these kids was about to shatter for whatever reason. Literally wanted to throw up. How could I break that news to 20 kids. I spent over 2 grand on tickets for 25 people had everything planned as far as food and permission slips. In my stress I thought WHO CAN HELP US?? Who cares enough about these kids from this part of town that can move mountains??? Only one name came to mind....TYRON HAMPTON!! I texted the city Councilmen on a Hail Mary, told him everything and he responded back with, "I've reached out to someone ill call you back "
Shortly after he let me know that the @cityofpasadena Pasadena Police Department
Would be driving all of us there and bringing us back safely. I almost cried. The officers even bought food and snacks for some of the kids there.
I wish I could tell you what the score was or how good Dodgers played but I can't because I was too busy watching the faces of all the kids.
All the smiles, the laughter them trying to start a "Wave". It was surreal. Like an actual dream.
I literally broke the bank on this one and will be fundraising to get back in the black for a couple years lol but it was worth it. The kids had so much fun. If I never do anything ever again I would be content.

Today at our community service volunteer group we had 12 kids show up to put some work in!! We decided to make cat beds for the little souls in the shelters!! We were able work together and produce 20!!
A big reason why I choose this activity especially is because its tedious, difficult and time consuming. You have to earn it. You can't hurry or cheat. I other words it teaches patients and sacrifice.
Its a blessing to be of service of others.
Even more so to be of service to animals.
This is our way of standing up and using our actions as their voices. To shed light on animal shelters and other nonprofits.
May every bed made bring a blessing upon the hands who made it. May each kid be rewarded in their heart. Im super proud of all of them.
I watch as they roast each other and talk their smack. But I also see them come together to accomplish the tasks I set before them .
They are - loud, smart, messy, tuff, always hungry, funny, caring, sweet and i love every bit of it!!
These kids are my world right now!!

For those who participate truly experience life.
For those who don't ...don't.
