A la visita del Papa y a la residencia de Bad Bunny se ha sumado un tercer visitante imprescindible en la capital: @vasto_gallery . La galería catalana ha desembarcado en el espacio de @sierra.delahiguera , reuniendo algunas piezas del estudio junto a las creaciones de Pol Agustí, @maxmilaserra y @esthergaton_ , diseños que se mueven con naturalidad en esa frontera difusa entre objeto y obra de arte. La cerámica negra y casi escultórica de Agustí, la luz mínima pero precisa de Milà Serra y las piezas de Gatón, tan distintas entre sí, terminan dialogando en una armonía inesperada. El resultado es una atmósfera envolvente, de esas que hacen que uno empiece a imaginar cómo sería vivir allí.

My friend @polagusti asked me to take some photos of his pieces during his exhibition at @vasto_gallery . Here is my interpretation of these pieces through a collage with various images, inspired by the idea of an anthropological catalog, as a systematic record of cultural assets, archaeological or ethnographic pieces that document human diversity, ancient and modern cultures.

Together with the artisan Miguel, Pol crafts his ‘Sistema Michocollection’, which includes sculptural chairs, tables, and lamps, using no molds, no potter’s wheels, and no traditional kilns.

The process is incredibly delicate. Mixing only mud and sand, they build the pieces by hand, adding just ten centimeters a day. The striking oxidized black color is achieved through a beautiful final step: when the clay is red-hot, they splash it with a mixture of water and burnt flour.

Pol describes this moment as giving the piece its soul.

Pol and his dog Bigas, seated beside one of Pol’s sculptural chairs.

There is a profound and tender story behind his work. In the beginning, his pieces served as small altars to honor the friend he had lost. He would leave hidden, fossil-like offerings in the fresh clay: a comb, a candle, a bouquet of tulips.

Today, his furniture stands as a beautiful celebration of memory, true friendship, and human connection.

It feels impossible, but a year has already passed since I first opened the doors of my home studio.
This year, during Mexico City Art Week, I will open them once again to share the new pieces I have been working on, alongside processes and works still in transformation, which will come to light over the coming year.

Visits will be by appointment only, in an intimate format, allowing time to talk calmly about the processes and the stories that inhabit each piece.

The home studio is located in an iconic building on Avenida Reforma, designed by architect Mario Pani—also an opportunity to experience the space and its architecture.

Visits will take place from Tuesday, February 3 to Sunday, February 8.
Appointments can be scheduled via email or through the link in my bio.

Excited to share these beautiful pictures as we enter the final days of this exhibition.
A show we had the pleasure to share as family.

En Este Momento marks the second collaboration between the two galleries, AGO Projects and anthony_meier_.

Each featured artist presented newly developed works spanning furniture, ceramics, florals, and one-of-a-kind domestic objects, emphasizing material intelligence, process, and the intimacy of making. The presentation is accompanied by a selection of artworks from Anthony Meier’s vibrant program, situating these practices within a broader artistic dialogue.

Estaba buscando un lugar donde empezar a experimentar con el aluminio. Recuerdo perfectamente la primera vez que vi ese taller desde lo alto de una colina, entre un bosque de árboles gigantes y verdes. En medio, como un agujero negro con humo saliendo, estaba el taller de fundición. Desde ese instante supe que este sería el lugar.
Ahí conocí a Raúl papá y a Raúl Junior cubiertos de hollín. Gracias enormes a los dos por acogerme y albergarme, abrirme las puertas del taller y acompañarme en estas primeras piezas de aluminio, que fueron una experimentación tanto para ellos como para mí.
Estas imágenes forman parte del proceso del biombo que se expuso en la galería Anthony Meier en la bahía de San Francisco con @agoprojects .
Gracias también a @salvadorfelixu por documentar la vida del taller con unos carretes caducados que tenía por casa. Me encanta ver aquí a todas estas personas que, poco a poco, han pasado de ser colaboradores a convertirse en amigos.

Pol Agustí, in a recent conversation with STIR, talked about evidencing presence and routine through objects that do not fully resolve themselves through use, but instead invite a kind of negotiation.

“The response of the person encountering them completes the piece in a subtle way, without ever defining it,” said the Mexico-based designer. His sculptural chairs, tables, speakers and lamps disrupt the utilitarian perception of furniture, transcending material expression into degrees of abstraction and lack of definitive meaning.
