I finally had time to sort through our summer 2026 vacation photos while being on another work-beach getaway and it makes me think how lucky and privileged I am, we are, to be able to make those memories and have those moments in - now I can say it as a streak is long - constant annual sequence. We don’t own much but we own these moments forever, it clearly is a priority we are working towards every day and so proud of it. And hopefully our kids who are exposed to all this amazing beauty get most out of it for life. Here is the first part, our beloved Algarve - Albufeira, Carvoeiro, Alvor caves and Sao Rafael.

Saint-Petersburg. A glimpse of Europe that never came to be. Northern Art Nouveau in its humble glory, canals and embankments yearning for reflection; a city of measured melancholy and austerity, where every courtyard hides centuries of history and cultural references, forever balancing grandeur with decay.

And perhaps what makes the city endure is not stone alone, but the people who refuse to let its memory disappear. In my friend’s apartment within a historic building, she has devoted herself to restoring and recreating the forgotten details of another era — carefully uncovering ornamental fragments, carved moldings, textures, and architectural treasures that had long been hidden beneath time and neglect. Through patience and devotion, she allows the building and this space to remember itself again. So grateful I got to see it in person.

I found the northern capital unchanged in the ways that matter most for me, still safeguarding my most romantic memories, still impossibly beautiful, still carrying that fragile perfection, confirming, after all these years, that it would have been the city we would have lived in had we never left Russia. Москва. Как это случилось? Пронеслась вихрем - открытий, эмоций, вывесок, меняющихся пейзажей, лиц, объятий, историй. Каково это - вроде бы знаешь каждый поворот, каждый перекресток, а вроде и не знаешь совсем. Все другое и ты другой, а иногда вспышками в сердце - все то же и ты та же, очень трудно это объяснить и даже прочувствовать тяжело, оно неуловимо, сразу исчезает. Москва, спасибо! За эти вспышки, за воспоминания, за самых любимых людей, которые далеко, но очень рядом❤️. ****

What is it like - you seem to know every turn, every intersection, but you don’t seem to know at all. Чудеса случаются.
И это хорошая новость — потому что иногда кажется, что им уже не осталось места.

Мы в Стамбуле на один день побыли приёмными родителями для маленькой чёрной спаниельки, которую нашли и спасли в Краснодаре. А потом она сделала настоящий круг вокруг Земли: из Краснодара — в Москву, из Москвы — в Стамбул, и дальше — в Монреаль, где её уже ждал свой человек. Он тоже прилетел к ней с другого конца страны.

Когда видишь такое, немножко офигеваешь — особенно на фоне всего происходящего, где, кажется, уже все вокруг осатанели и не осталось места человечности.

Но она есть.
В таких вещах.

В таких собачках.

Потому что она настоящее безусловное чудо… даже гавкать не умела. И настолько растопила наши сердца, что мы до сих пор по ней скучаем.

Пусть ей повезёт. Пусть хоть кому-то еще повезет. Потому что таких собак очень много. Они все — душечки, как их называют на болгарском. И их хватит каждой человеческой душе.

Спасибо всем людям, которые это делают. Это действительно надёжное дело в наше время — спасать эти души и в каком-то смысле спасать свои.

И, конечно, спасибо новым хозяевам.

It was a difficult year, powered by anxiety and sadness. Thank you to the dear people in my life who were there for me, if your heart smiles at this moment, it means my gratitude reached you.
