At our school, we learn to make the complex simple. What are the ways we can create depth using only lines? It doesn’t matter which style we choose, but how we adapt it so that it works properly. Such styles may include linework, anime, and handpoke, styles where it can be difficult to distinguish quality work from poor work. 🎨

Do you want to learn proper techniques? ✍️

Japanese tattooing is one of our favorite styles. In this video, we show three designs: the largest works perfectly as a sleeve because it wraps beautifully around the body and has great flow, while the two smaller pieces can be placed separately on different areas or combined like a puzzle.

Bold colors and traditional influences are what make Japanese tattoos so iconic. 🖌️🔥

Which Japanese tattoo would you choose: a sleeve or smaller pieces in different areas? 👇

Every design splits into a primary, secondary and tertiary element, and the needle follows that hierarchy. Here the planets are background, so they get worked in fine line, barely there. That way the eye goes to the character, the skin heals clean and the piece holds together artistically as a whole ✨

Are you ready to study design? 💬

We do not want to be superficial painters or superficial artists. For us fulfilment means leaving something behind through our work. An artist is not whoever chases a visual result. It is the one who wakes up with questions, keeps discovering more and more new things and sees as many shades as possible, where an untrained eye sees only the basic colors ✨

What do you want to leave behind through your work 💬

One of our favourite portraits. A woman in a blue headscarf with pearls, disappointment in her gaze but love that never faded. Hear Helene's story ✨

You don’t start with a style. You start with line, shadow, patience and observation. ✏️

This pencil study was created at Polis Decay Art Tattoo School, where drawing isn’t just an exercise it’s the foundation every tattoo artist builds upon.

Our new course cycle begins this October.
And somewhere out there, someone is looking at work like this thinking: “I want to be able to do that too.”

Maybe this post just needs to find them. 🦅

⸻

At our school we turn ideas into designs that hold. One student's first-tattoo took a client's idea and the result was exactly what they wanted. ✨
