Hi, I’m Dinah. You’ve probably seen my nails. Now meet the rest of me. 💅🖤

I was a bedside nurse for years, and nail polish just wasn’t something I could do. When I moved into teaching I realized nothing was stopping me anymore. So I picked up a bottle of regular polish, painted my nails, and somewhere in that quiet Sunday ritual I remembered what it felt like to just do something for me.

I started sharing because I couldn’t stop talking about it and my family was being very polite about it. I found the most wonderful community of people on a similar journey, and now I get to be the person who helps make it a little easier.

Outside of polish I’m a nursing professor, a PhD student, a ballet mom, and fully employed by two dogs who don’t appreciate any of that. I love Leon Bridges, Padre Island, sci-fi television, theatre, and my favorite dinosaur is an Ankylosaurus which I will defend.

Heading to PBE this weekend and would love to meet you if you’re going to be there. Come say hi. 🖤

Yes, it was a little hard to put myself out there at first. My family was not as excited about receiving a billion manicure pics as I was about sending them.
But it has been so worth it. I can actually see how far my skills have come, and that wouldn’t exist if I hadn’t just started posting anyway.
So post the messy ones. Post the flooded cuticles. Future you will be glad you did.

Trying to make my own peely basecoat to help with nail polish removal. The big chunky glitter really messes with my nails.

Thanks @wowlinry for your recent video to help figure this out!

If you haven’t voted yet, tomorrow’s the day 🗳️

I voted early in this nail polish, American Idiot from @prism.parade It’s based on the amazing Green Day song, and if you’ve never taken the time to really listen to the lyrics, do it now! (We’ll vote first, then song.) by @polishedsquid

I love when a nail polish collection comes out that just… speaks to me.

The Don’t Go Inside collection from @prism.parade did just that. The whole vibe and all the colors were just right up my alley.

Now to figure out which one to wear on Halloween 🤔 by @polishedsquid

Recreating @lacquer.and.light glowing lava field nails.

I’ve always loved Erica’s account. Her swatches are absolutely gorgeous! When I realized I basically had the same polishes, I had to give this mani a go.

I was probably more heavy handed with my crackle, so my pattern broke into bigger pieces. And I could not for the life of me get a good glow video. I still love how these turned out.

I was so excited that I was able to grab tickets to see weezer after so many years of not being able to make it happen.

I also got lucky that around that same time PPU was doing an album covers theme. Of course I had to pick up this gorgeous blue shimmer nail polish from @bcblacquers . Obviously it’s based on the Blue Album.

My kiddo (who apparently got all her friends into Weezer too) got in on the blue action. Make sure you swipe to see some pics from the concert.

What other nail polish color would you wear to a Weezer concert? by @polishedsquid

(Pr)Press-ons are such a quick, easy way to get that salon look or try out a new shape without commitment.

I got the change to try out the new cured gel press on nails from @ohora_usa

I’ll admit some other brands bother my nails because they’re too rigid and force my (barely there) c-curve, but these were genuinely comfortable to wear.

I love it when a plan comes together! (Gifted PR)

@chinaglazeofficial sent me the most wonderful set of colors and I was thinking of the perfect way to show them off and welcome the cool weather (I’m in Texas it takes us a while to get some Fall weather)

Shades:
Light as Lace (base)
