In the Gallery this weekend:
Live Life Rough by Aljiun @joacquinalana

Life—a simple word, yet one that contains a profound and intricate complexity. It is a journey filled with challenges and setbacks, constantly testing our strength and resilience. “Live Life Rough” is a fun spin on the popular slogan ‘Live, Laugh, Love’. Instead of seeing everything positively, “Live Life Rough” considers life’s hardships as a full life experience. It invited us to see the challenges and hardships we face not just as an obstacle but in harmony with the gratitude and fulfillment that living life to the fullest can offer, encapsulating the paradox of simplicity within complexity—a paradox that mirrors life itself.

Through his lens, we can see how nature, with its boundless beauty and resilience, became a source of inspiration and tranquility. For Aljiun, nature is not just a backdrop or a subject but a perfect metaphor for life’s duality and its capacity to nourish and foster growth in the harshest conditions. In this exhibition, he translates his vision to mixed-media works that consist of elements of nature representing life. “Live Life Rough” is a contemplative journey that prompts us to look beyond our immediate perceptions and to recognize the intricate dance between sorrow, hardships, hope, and joy.
