Hiiii world. Requesting a listening ear and/or $$$. My stepdad Kraig was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and it has spread to his lymph nodes. This feels like perhaps the worst time to be asking for help as our community is in crisis. We would not be asking if we had another option. Gonna share what Esti and I wrote for the gofundme here. Hi everyone, Ava and Esther here.

Our beloved step dad Kraig was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. He underwent surgery to remove a third of his colon and after some tests, we learned that the cancer has spread to his lymphnodes. Over the next few months he will be undergoing chemotherapy and will be unable to work. Our mom will be Kraig’s primary caregiver and they will both be out of work for the foreseeable future. We are raising funds to cover their household expenses (for possibly the rest of the year) as well as the endless medical bills they will encounter.

Our city is under occupation. We have friends and neighbors dying in the streets.

Our mom and Kraig are the most generous people we know and have taught us how to show up for those we love, those we do not know. We are abundantly aware of the crisis our community is facing, especially our immigrant neighbors, our Black and Brown neighbors, and other vulnerable community members. It feels like an inappropriate time to ask for community support; we would not be asking for funds if we had any other option. We are hoping to support mom and Kraig’s ability to house and feed themselves and fight this battle.

Love and friendship is everything!!!! my girl raff taught me about being a Pollyanna, joy unrealistic optimism and sometimes having to work to find the good fun and beauty in a deeply sad world. What an incredible group of people I have been lucky enough to know and love and call my family! jake and raff remind us that magic is real and love is the greatest antidote by @polyesther71
