Aaaaand here's another 3D animation for you

It's the same subject, but with a different outcome

I kept exploring motion design and its infinite possibilities for this one
My goal was to create different scenes with different compositions

I really like the way the first and second animations blend together
It's a smooth transition that makes the whole thing look great

I made the motion graphics introduction with the fusion tab in DaVinci Resolve, another aspect I'm willing to explore

Little spoiler: the next 3D animation will have some rigging involved, both in terms of the model and the camera

For this first render, I tried mixing glass dispersion with volumes to give the 3D model (which you can find for free on Sketchfab) some thickness.

During the color grading process, I reduced the red slightly to achieve a colder look and highlight the blues and greens

Would you like a break down? Let me know down below!

This second rendering better shows how turning down the reds brought out the greens and blues in the dispersion
I prefer this look to the warmer one I originally had

A look at the viewport of the 3d scene

Viewport of the close up

I completely changed my artistic direction here, going for a colder look by consistently turning down the reds and greens
I also tinted the volume directly in Blender, which directly influences the color of the Principled BSDF shader

I also rendered the close-up shot once more to closely examine the changes from the previous renders

For the first set, I used four different glass shaders, but for the second, I only used the Principled BSDF
I didn't separate the RGB channels, but I might test it out in combination with the colored volume

This is a bonus experiment
It's a combination of masks for both the Principled BSDF and the Principled Volume shader
Yes, even though it doesn't look like it, I played with the volume and it changed the final result significantly

These are still renders taken from a 3D animation I'm working on

Here's a quick look at the style I'm developing for this one. It's still in the early stages, but I think I've found what I was looking for

Now that I have the script, storyboard, models, and environment, it's time to animate everything!

I'm not great at environment design or character animation, but this project is pushing me out of my comfort zone, which is great

I might share how I made the icy/gem material soon👀

The new project is out! A new 3D animation for @breevixofficial with Marco Bezzecchi

Here's a little preview of the process I went through
I can say it has been so much fun, and for this project I took another step forward by working on the sound effects too
After creating models, textures and animations in Blender, I color graded and edited everything in DaVinci Resolve, both the visuals and the audio

A quick carousel for a quick 3D material.

Recently, someone asked me how I made the cloth on a new 3D model I'm working on, so here's how I did it.
It's extremely simple and it only takes five minutes and two textures.

I believe the lighting is what probably makes my render look more realistic.
I wonder if adding a particle system set to hair would help even more (I will probably explore this option).

In any case, here are the values I used. I hope you find them helpful!

Here's a quick work in progress. I'm working on a new 3D animation, and I'm enjoying the process. For this model specifically, I used floaters, which made detailing the 3D model much easier.

I'm about to finish modeling and start working on the animation itself, which I'm really looking forward to.

This project is for portfolio purposes only and it's not associated with Nothing in any shape, way or form.

I unlocked a new 3D modeling technique!

I'm working on a new set of 3D animations, and I was looking for a way to add surface details without spending hours figuring out the right topology.
During my research, I learned about floaters, a technique that involves modeling details and adding them to surfaces using shaders and snapping tools.

It's great, but it has its limitations and overall, I prefer having the details carved into the mesh. This technique can be extremely useful for saving time and lowering the poly count though

Here's a quick breakdown. Have you ever used floaters?

And the animation is finally ready!

It took me a while to complete this one. The entire pipeline was long, from scripting and storyboarding (on paper, I'm old school) to using Blender, then a lot of post-production work in After Effects and Da Vinci Resolve.

I'm proud of this project, not just because of the final result, but because of everything I learned while working on it. New approaches to use with certain topologies while 3D modeling, amazing effects I can achieve in post-production, a more efficient workflow for color grading.

Luckily, Instagram provided a cool soundtrack.
I was going to do the sound design as well, but I decided to call it a day.
Time to process everything I learned😮‍💨😮‍💨

I ran a quick test comparing the Cycles and Eevee render engines in a new 3D animation I recently finished.

I'm impressed by EEVEE renders, I'm not going to lie. Even though shadows are darker than those in Cycles due to a fundamental difference in the way the two engines trace light and its bounces, I don't think that's necessarily disappointing.

Cycles certainly makes things easier and produces more realistic results with less effort. EEVEE offers great control over lights though (it may take some time to get comfortable with it)

I'll definitely keep studying it, I overlooked it for too long.

What is your favorite render engine between the two?

Here's an R&D project I'm currently working on.

I made everything using the shader tab in Blender, taking advantage of the new scene time node added in version 5.2.
I've always loved liquid 3D effects, especially when combined with metal materials. I think they're a great combination.

I have a couple of new ideas that I want to test on this project, and I've already applied them to a few 3D models to ensure they work properly on different meshes.

I'm including a viewport clip of the animation to demonstrate that the meshes haven't been displaced in any way for this effect, which I think makes it even cooler.

It's time to finish the next 3D animation, though!
