‘Into The Long Tide’ - out today on @pompomrecs via @dittomusic 🐐🌊 with accompanying video by @victoriareed

ITLT is about grogginess, helplessness, boredom, and following the flow of a situation that you didn’t ask for, the feeling of reaching for the magic handle of that door that ultimately just leads you to the next wave. This can be scaled to a feeling that can last hours (acute) or even years (chronic). The long tide represents in a way, and I’ve found out long after writing the song, the 7 year cycle that I was going through. When I got out of that cycle, I started a new one of hyper-everything. During the beginning of that new cycle, I recorded and mixed the song. Hence the weird epicness of the synth choirs or the brass in the composition. by @pompomrecs

I wake up in Stockholm and set up my pedalboard for tonight’s show. Album’s out today and there’s a lot to do to let the world know. Drinking a coffee on the balcony, smoking a Camel Breeze I notice it’s 11:11. My wife taught me it’s a good time to make a wish, this morning the first that comes to mind is “I wish to find balance in life”.

In the past decade I saw a few glimpses of something like success (or whatever that means) and in the end realized it’s not the ultimate goal. My goal is to be creative, to be a good human being, to care about the people that surround me and to enjoy the incredible gifts that the world offers me everyday. Hopefully to make my microsphere a beautiful place that people can look up to. “I” was written and recorded in a transition phase of my life where I was extremely unbalanced and you’ll probably hear it in there. It’s a testament to research, relentless, and the need for expression despite the internal conflicts and external contexts. It’s the first of many recordings that I’m proud to share with you.

“I” IS OUT! It’s made of thirteen songs that I suggest you take 45 minutes to listen to in order, from top to bottom. You’ll definitely uderstand me more after that, maybe learn something you didn’t know, maybe get inspired, maybe just drift away for a second. Love you, see you soon! by @pompomrecs

Dopo il successo del progetto Malihini, con cui ha calcato palchi prestigiosi come il Primavera Sound e l’Eurosonic, @giampaolospeziale debutta con il suo primo album solista, “I”, in uscita il 14 maggio 2026 per @pompomrecs — label e collettivo che NPR ha recentemente definito come «promotore della scena indie rock romana».

Composto da 13 brani avant-pop, “I” si presenta come un affascinante viaggio attraverso un tunnel immaginifico: un percorso che avanza nell’oscurità, guidato da una luce lontana e attraversato da continue deviazioni sonore. Le composizioni, stratificate e suggestive, costruiscono paesaggi di grande impatto, in cui riverberi distorti e raffinati abbellimenti melodici generano una sensazione di intimità viscerale all’interno di spazi ampi e immersivi.

In questo lavoro, Speziale intreccia scelte produttive audaci con una sensibilità pop calibrata e coinvolgente, dando forma a un universo sonoro personale e riconoscibile. Pur lasciando intravedere echi di artisti come Cocteau Twins, Yves Tumor e Frank Ocean, l’identità espressiva rimane sempre unica, capace di restituire emozioni con autenticità e forza.
