Meet Matt Sephton — musician, sound artist, composer and producer based in the Coromandel Peninsula.

Working across field recordings, exploratory sound and bass-heavy electronic production, Matt creates immersive sonic landscapes that explore the connections between people, place and the more-than-human world.

His debut album, Vā, was shaped through field recordings, hydrophone captures and collaborations gathered during an artist residency at Tiapapata Art Centre in Samoa. Earlier this year, the album reached #12 on the Official Aotearoa Albums Chart.

For LÁLÁ – Between Worlds: Subterranean Currents, Matt will present Vā live, reworking its textures through electronics, hydrophone dubs and improvisation. Later, he’ll take us into another side of his musical world with a special DJ set.

Sound moving through water, land, memory and everything that lives beneath the surface. 🌊🌿🔊
