How to visit Versailles from Paris — tickets, train & Hall of Mirrors hack

Everything you need to know before visiting Versailles. 🇫🇷✨

📍 Train: Board the RER C from your nearest central station (I used Saint-Michel Notre-Dame)→ To Versailles Château Rive Gauche (€4.40)
🎟️ Tickets: Passport ticket for full access (~€32, or free for under-26 EU residents)
⏰ Best time: 9 AM, Thursday or Friday (closed Mondays, Tuesday is packed)
🪞 Hack: Enter through Entrance A and go straight to the Hall of Mirrors before the crowds

In 1851, a French scientist named Léon Foucault hung this pendulum from the dome of the Panthéon in Paris. His invitation to the world’s scientists simply said: “You are invited to see the Earth turn”

Here’s the mind-bending part: The pendulum always swings in the same direction. But over hours, its path seems to rotate — because the Earth is spinning underneath it. It was the first time anyone could actually see proof that our planet moves.

170 years later, it’s still swinging. 🤯

Zaanse Schans Day Trip Guide from Amsterdam - Everything you need to know

📍 What is it: Open-air museum village with 8 historic windmills, 15km from Amsterdam

🚆 How to reach: Fastest is train Amsterdam Centraal → Zaandijk Zaanse Schans (17-20 mins) + 12-min walk.

🚎 Easiest is Bus 800 Express (24 mins direct)

➡️ What to do: Watch windmills working, cheese tasting, clog making, walk along Zaan river

🎫 Entry: Village free, windmills/museums €5-€12

⏰ Best time: Go 9-10am for empty shots

This is not just a dam wall. This is where the heart of UAE beats. 🇦🇪

At Hatta Dam is the world’s largest mosaic mural - 2,198 sqm made of 1.2 million marble pieces, showing our Founding Fathers.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may Allah rest their souls. The two leaders who shook hands in the desert in 1968 and built this nation we all proudly call home.

I came as a visitor, I stayed because of stories like this.

This is the Pantheon — built in 126 AD by Hadrian.
After 1900 years, it’s still standing. Still the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. No steel. No reinforcement.

43.3m wide, 43.3m tall — a perfect sphere fits inside.
9m oculus open to the sky, never covered.

When it rains, water falls straight on the marble floor and disappears through 22 tiny holes. Romans engineered the drain 1900 years ago and it still works.

I got chills standing here.
