“Już Cię Nie Pamiętam“ orthopedic fiberglass cast tape rifle

orthopedic fiberglass cast tape, gauze, medical tape
1976

From what I can gather this piece, modeled off a Polish AKM rifle, was part of an exhibition my grandfather had where he made a series of objects out of fiberglass cast tape. I am in contact with the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art in Krakow to get documentation of the show and hopefully obtain the rest of the objects from this series. by @poorobject

“ŚRODEK TARCZY“ Bullseye Eye Patch (eye of the bull)

dart board, leather strap
1956

My grandfather made this piece from his friend Stanisław‘s dart board he was apparently throwing away with a lot of his old things just before leaving Wielopole Skrzyńskie to go to university. There is a picture of me somewhere as a 6 year old wearing it as a Halloween costume but my mom can’t find it. by @poorobject

“Anioł” Harp Wings
baby harps, leather
1962

My grandfather made these wings for a Wigilia(Christmas) play run by the oldest elementary school in Krakow, Szkoła Podstawowa nr 2 im. św. Wojciecha. The stars represent the star of Bethlehem. A young student wore these in the beginning of the play, hoisted up by strings and placed the star on top of a tree to begin the ceremonies. by @poorobject

How Wings Are Attached To The Backs Of Angels
birch, rusted saws, leather, nails
1966-1968

These wings have been sitting in my mom’s attic ever since I was born. She showed them to me for the first time on Christmas day when I was 6. My grandfather did a lot of costume design for the theater company Cricot 2 in Wielopole Skrzyńskie, these were made for the play “Mother Joan of Angels.” There were several angels in the play he made wings for with different iterations, however I’ve had no luck in finding them or even pictures from the performance itself. by @poorobject

Ocular Conversion Device v.2
ceramic, glass, bronze, nails
1973-1974

My grandfather was commissioned by a local Roman Catholic church to make an art object for the missionaries. The function was to help non believers “see god.” Many of these devices were made and possibly manufactured after Rob’s initial design, unfortunately the one we kept in my family is broken. by @poorobject

Spiked trumpet guns
1964-1966
Brass, oxidized iron plated nickel spikes

From what my mother told me, my grandfather used to play in a marching band. He would take broken instruments from his high school’s band room left for donation and use them as a medium for sculptures. My mother says she remembers seeing a photo of him pretending to play one of these trumpets in his room but I’ve yet to find it. by @poorobject
