Tokyo Day 1, Part 3 🇯🇵 Went to watch sumo wrestling and somehow ended up in the ring myself. 😂 We visited Shinjuku Sumo Club, where we learnt about the traditions behind sumo, picked up a few basic moves and watched some really exciting matches up close. The best part was how interactive the whole experience was. Everyone was cheering, shouting “Ganbare!” and were totally involved. Then I got to wrestle Hiro-san, who was absolutely hilarious and very kindly let me win after dragging me around the ring for a bit. 😂 📍 Shinjuku Sumo Club, Tokyo If you’re planning a Tokyo itinerary, I’d definitely recommend adding a sumo experience. It’s a really fun way to learn a little about Japanese culture while doing something different from the usual sightseeing. Easily one of my favourite experiences from the trip! #TokyoTravel #JapanItinerary #Shinjuku #SumoWrestling #JapanTravel by @poorvajohri
Tokyo Day 1, Part 2 🇯🇵 Harajuku is so much more than Takeshita Street. Start there for the full colourful, slightly chaotic experience, but then wander beyond it. Cat Street is great for streetwear, vintage stores and cafés, while Omotesando feels completely different with its architecture, flagship stores and more premium shopping. All three areas are close enough that you can explore them together on foot. A few things I’d know before going: • Takeshita Street: fun, crowded and worth doing once. I’d personally spend around 45 mins–1 hour here unless you’re properly shopping. • Food: don’t plan every stop. Harajuku is perfect for trying crepes, tteokbokki, donuts and whatever random queue convinces you to join it. 😂 • Shopping: explore the smaller side streets around Harajuku too. Some of our favourite finds weren’t on the main street. • Cat Street: add this between Harajuku and Shibuya if you like vintage, sneakers, streetwear and independent stores. • Omotesando: save more shopping time for here if you’re into fashion. The stores themselves are half the experience. • Comfy shoes are non-negotiable. This is a very walkable route and we ended up walking way more than planned. • Then continue towards Shibuya, see Hachikō, explore the area and stay until evening because Shibuya after dark is a completely different vibe. Small note: We were staying in Shibuya, which made this entire part of Tokyo super convenient for us. We could walk around a lot of these areas, and getting to/from everything else was really easy too. Our route was basically: Meiji Jingu → Harajuku → Takeshita Street → Cat Street/side streets → Omotesando → Shibuya → Shinjuku And somehow we STILL weren’t done with Day 1. 😭 Next: Part 3, Sumo Wrestling at Shinjuku Sumo Club 🇯🇵 Save this for when you’re building your Tokyo itinerary. 📌 by @poorvajohri
Day 1 in Japan 🇯🇵 Started our Tokyo trip with a quiet morning at Meiji Jingu. A giant torii, a 700m walk through the forest, sake barrels, little wishes left behind on ema boards and took way too many pictures along the way. 🌿⛩️ Tiny tip: go early, wear shoes you can actually walk in, and don’t rush the forest path. The walk is part of the experience. Saving the chaos for Part 2 because Harajuku deserves its own post. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Save this for your Tokyo itinerary, especially if you need a calm start before Tokyo starts Tokyoing. 🇯🇵 by @poorvajohri
100 yen and you leave with a little piece of wisdom from Japan. 🎋 Not your usual souvenir, but probably one of the most meaningful ones. A poem from Meiji Jingu that you can take home with you. ⛩️🇯🇵 Save this little experience for your Japan trip. 🤍 #JapanTravel #TokyoTravel #JapanTravelTips #ThingsToDoInTokyo #MeijiJingu by @poorvajohri

Found a spot too beautiful to just stand and stare. So I paddled right into it. 🌿💛🏞️ by @poorvajohri
It’s been so long since my last trip that my vacation photos feel like historical archives. 😪 by @poorvajohri
This onsen felt like it belonged to another world, the kind you only read about in fairy tales. Crystal-clear water, gentle steam rising, and the soft hush of nature all around. Every breath felt slower, every moment heavier with calm. It was the kind of place that makes you forget the world exists beyond its warmth. • • • #hotwatersprings #naturallyexisting #krabihotsprings #krabionsen by @poorvajohri
