Started on this painting last year already but then put it away for a while. Finally decided to get it done for the upcoming exhibition and had to put in an all nighter the last evening 😅. It doesn’t have my usual finish and attention to detail but there’s charm in a rough and loose painting as well.

One of my favorite models I’ve ever had the honor of working with is Riona. This painting was from one of the last modelling sessions she did because she was pregnant and had decided she was retiring from modeling. I was fortunate enough to capture many beautiful scenes with her in this blessed state and this is the first painting from that session that I’ve completed. Giving birth to a new life is a miraculous thing and we all decend from a long line of mothers all the way back to the first mother.
I like the autumnal and earthy feel of it and decided to call it ”Earth Mother”, oil on linen, canvas, 50x82 cm.

You’ll be able to see it in person if you attend my solo exhibition which opens on Saturday 27 Sep!
