Today’s @hb80s contest was kinda pumping 4’-6’ with crazy conditions from glassy high tide shorebreak that was so gnarly I made two attempts to make it out but got denied and completely annihilated but never ditched my board when I probably should have a few times that was the highlight of my heat … 😂👊💯 “I wasn’t the only one” … Then hurricane winds came through out of nowhere and almost wiped out the Contest site. Then almost turned offshore to glassy again all this happened within one hour ? But a big shout out to @micknielsen that we celebrated his picture at Pipeline in the 80’s a true surfing legend … Painted by @rickyblake and of course Bud Llamus @17thstboardshop for hosting this one of a kind 80’s contest every year …🤙 by @pops18a

Today September 18th was officially Kolby Aipa day in Huntington Beach … So our HB community gathered on the pier to unveil Kolbys Plaque on tower 0 to celebrate this special “Day of Aloha” from this day on in HB … Thanks to @christianhosoi for sharing a positive message like always and @peter_townend04 for hosting along with @kowabunga_van_klan for setting everything up for the @aipasurf family … Also @billwebb511 speaking for our @hb.boardriders with an emotional message from our club … It was a highlight for me to get a chance to speak to my HB groms to simply let them know how much I love them and to tell their parents everyday I love you because you just don’t know what tomorrow will bring … Also thanks to Mike & Joe at @zacks_surfcity for hosting the after party with great food and drinks for everyone …Thanks to @dukeaipa @valaipa & @skysky_aipa for letting us use Kolbys spirit to learn how to make things better in our city HB for everyone in the future … 🙌💯🤙 @kolby_aipa #iamkolby #aipasurf by @pops18a

@srfrx 2026 It’s not about results it’s about camaraderie and passion for the two things we all love Moto / Surfing … This 12th year I have been very lucky to participate in was no different with positive vibes at the track and on the beach … Everyone involved in this one of a kind once a year event is super stoked on each other it is a competition but more of a brotherhood the goal is to all come out of the “Controlled Chaos” healthy and happy for each other … Special thanks to @jalbrecht83 and the family that organize surfercross for the past 26 years … I’m looking forward to my invite next year I will do this event as long as I can or at least until the wheels fall off … 😂 #surfercrossfamily by @pops18a

Hard to believe it’s been 1 year since I lost my first grom @kolby_aipa … Here with his dad @dukeaipa always spreading “Aloha” together in and out of the water … But now in heaven with his grandfather Ben Aipa watching over all his family and friends 🙌 it’s a Kolby thing he always made sure everyone around him was good … I just want @valaipa & @sky.aipa to know Kolby will never be forgotten in our city HB his spirit is felt on the daily in my heart … Having the title of “Director of Groms” for our @hb.boardriders is an honor for me I’ve never had such an important job. Basically I’m the guy to make sure your groms are safe and doing the right things when you’re not around … I saw Kolby the day of his unbelievable tragic accident working at the sugar shack … As I was leaving Kolby told me Pops I’m going to just ride my bike to the surf movie premier tonight … I said that’s the smartest thing I heard all day Kolby I love you and gave him a big hug … Didn’t know that was going to be the last time I got to hold Kolby in my arms when the last thing in my mind happened that night …? Please don’t let Kolbys tragedy go in vain use it as a wake up call to simply share love and respect to your family and friends always because you just never know … Thanks Kolby for all the great memories together kiddo I will always hold down your spot on Northside …🤙 #iamkolby @aipasurf by @pops18a

2026 @hb.boardriders final gathering of the year at our clubhouse @boardriderscafehb … It was a full house of HB legends surrounded by our up and coming groms … But the highlight of the night was introducing our new and very special award the “Kolby Aipa” trophy to the member that has gone beyond are expectations in and out of the water … Congratulations to our own @baileyturner__ this year who’s future looks very bright … And shoutout to our photographer @ronlyonphoto for putting together a tribute video for Kolby Aipa to share with the Aipa family @leilani_skysky @valaipa & @dukeaipa along with our club there wasn’t a dry eye in the meeting … Kolby will live on in our club forever along with Casey Wheat who had the vision “It was all a Dream” to start @west_coast_board_riders that has grown to @usboardridersclubs with over 40 clubs up and down the coastline … I hope to one day have the honor to accept this one of a kind annual award the “Kolby Aipa Cup”🏆 @usbrapparel #hbboardriders #westcoastboardriders #iamkolby #caseywouldbestoked by @pops18a

“Well we pulled it off today” With diploma in hand @_dylan_sloan graduated from Huntington Beach high school … It was definitely a team effort but worth all the ups and downs throughout the year … Congrats to Dylan and the family @amy_jean_roberts @islandrudeboys & @colin_bikes_808 for not giving up on Dylan’s future it was a long rode but well worth it in the end … I’m stoked to be apart of the journey off to the next episode … by @pops18a

2026 @usboardridersclubs Today our @hb.boardriders advanced to finals day tomorrow at lowers … With scores no lower than 7.5 and our high score was 9.5 … Thanks to our coach the best in the game Simpo … 1st we started off @_dylan_sloan with Mom who scored a solid 8+ to start the heat with good momentum … 2nd was Gerr @waveki with a solid 7+ ride quickly that put us ahead of the clock … 3rd was @finntcastle that scored a 9+ putting us with a commanding lead … 4th was our own @baileyturner__ who scored a 8+ score in a timely manner … 5th was @brettsimpson that scored a 7+ today after scoring a solid 9.7 yesterday in the Wheat Cup 🏆 … 6th was @jackaboyes with a solid 7+ ride leaving plenty of time for our anchor … 7th @lukeguinaldo who lit it up on his last wave with a 9+ that resulted HB with a dominating win for the day … And of course we need to thank the best Ref in the game @jimshubin … 👊💯🤙 @usbrgear #iamkolby #caseywouldbestoked by @pops18a

2026 Wheat Cup 🏆 Was all time at lowers today with fun waves and positive vibes in and out of the water. Starting with @dukeaipa wearing our @hb.boardriders special edition shirt with Casey Wheat & Kolby Aipa as Duke looks up to heaven sending his love I’m sure … And thanks @brilloproductions once again for our first class contest site … Thanks to two of our founders @zige_ and @chrismoreno.usa for making this all happen behind the scenes it’s a lot of work organizing our @west_coast_board_riders … Also our OG sponsor @banzaibowls always taking care of us on the beach thanks to @wanderlshears @krunch.mc & @banzai_bard with @nathaniel_curran Hang’n with surfing legends like @rob_machado @a.ruffowssc & @peter_mel just to name a few … And of coarse tongue hanger Mr. President @billwebb511 with @shookyx4 … Plus a big thanks to @ronlyonphoto for always getting the shots … As our HB Board Riders Club finished a close 2nd once again to @scboardridersclub congrats my friends … @usbrgear #iamkolby #caseywouldbestoked by @pops18a

Turning 66 today … And reminiscing on the high’s and lows of last year … Starting with getting to surf every chance I get on my @aipasurf … Then getting sponsored by @hbradpowerbikes … And the low losing one of my groms @kolby_aipa was devastating who got inducted to the surfers hall of fame and we had one of the biggest paddle outs ever seen on Northside #iamkolby … But my grom @_dylan_sloan made his first surf movie “Genesis” and started surfing the QS with some good results already plus winning the state championship … And my grom @baileyturner_hb went to the next level by winning a gold medal for the world championships plus qualifying for the challenger series … Finding out my best friend @bobsurferreal got cancer but is going to beat it and still surfing together every chance we get … I’m very grateful to work for @banzai_bard & @banzaibowls … And doing surf lessons in HB with Kelly Girl & @logan.pistilli sharing my life passion #popssurflessonshb … Then just last weekend going to Santa Cruz for our @hb.boardriders comp at the lane and seeing all my friends from the @santacruzboardridersclub … I’m truly one lucky old guy in and out of the water … by @pops18a

Epic Day today in Santa Cruz at the Lane with our surfing brotherhood. Pulling up this morning to 3’-5’ with good conditions and positive vibes for our @west_coast_board_riders comp.
