Here we go.On the 16th of March,2023 a friend of mine asked me if I would be interested in jamming in a rehearsal studio.Once a month. Not really to play gigs, just to play in the studio.I said no for about 6 months. Although the studio was just near my work, so gave in.
Since then, @snake_powder was born.
There was
Tim from MrFloppy
Craig from Christbait
James from @thedevilsmonkey
And Paul from Bundoora
Thanks to Peter Criss, I wanted to play drums since I was 9.
I first played drums at 12
Then had lessons for two years at school in 85/86.
I always loved playing, but when I went to see bands, I would always think ‘let’s not waste everyone’s time’ Just let ‘good drummers ‘ play.
Anyway at about the age of 52 I joined this band. We rehearse almost every fortnight.
Then we recorded a record, and here it is.We have since played 47 gigs( give or take 10)
Here is how I imagine the radio advert would have gone if we released it in 1974.

Here is the debut release from Melbourne band Snake Powder.
Limited to 99 copies.
Buy one today via snakepowderofficial@gmail.com
Or send me a private message.
$40 plus $15 freight( introductory offer)
And be sure to book us for your next birthday. We come cheap, and never leave. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @porlypee

Old radio neighbours / ratbags, Pauly, Pat and Nerida from Livewire. It was so nice to crash one of their Radiothon shows and revive our old crossover Hellzawire/ Live-a-poppin’ for a brief, sweet moment.

Triple R started in 1976
I started at the station in 1996
I’ve done a weekly radio show since 1998
I started doing Best Of The Brat with Glenny G and Holly C. The show finished in 2007. And I’ve done Livewire ever since.
I love doing it, and am excited to do a show every week still.
But the fun doesn’t just happen. Over 600 volunteers contribute to keep the station on air.
There is no government funding for RRR
It’s just generous subscribers & sponsors.
Please consider subscribing.

@3rrrfm is quite literally the opposite of enshitifacation.

A beautiful, independent forever-transmogrifying transmission that exists to make the world better. By nurturing alternative ideas, voices and music. By supporting the weirdos. By uplifting community. The fact that it's survived and thrived for 50 years, kicking against the odds in this big bad world, is just flat out mind-boggling

You know who gets it?

Certified RRR stans @mattricho0 and Nick Brown, who'll be joining me for the first ever Sometimes Always Radiothon eppy tonight 8-10pm.

If you get it. Or maybe just want Richo to read out your name, then why not do your bit to unshitify the world and subscribe. I'd love to hear from you 🐯❤️‍🔥

In the spirit of people sharing old photos this Radiothon (which makes me realise I have smashed too many phones to have any), here are a few sweet little mems.

1. Richo at Breakfasters OB 2019 (did I mention he's on the show tonight?)
2. Browny at GP or Meredith
3. My very first Graveyard in 2013 or 14 (as captured by @angelahenley)
4. Spooky Radiothon mems
5. Getting on the beers with Geraldine and Annaliese celebrating RRR's 40th
6. Some after hours chaos with Pauly P, Annaliese and Hornsby
7. First non-Graveyard on air mem with Woody at OB 2014
8. Breakfaster Radiothon reunion
9.. 14-year-old Sarah feeling ready sad about the thought you might not subscribe tonight. taken in Triple R - 3RRR 102.7FM by @porlypee
