florence, i remember when the /dog days/ video first came out on youtube and i kept playing the song on loop. it must have spoken to me then, i don’t know. you’ve held a place in my heart since. the lovely harp and strings, allusions to religion and literature, and poetic meditations in your art validate me as the weird sensitive girl in the corner, with an open heart, closed fist, and worn-out book. i have emotionally imprinted onto so many of your lyrics and could simply write several theses on the matter. to be in an entire stadium of people singing about uncontrollable anxiety (picking me up and putting me down a thousand times a day); refusing the narrative of being a bride and mother that is pushed onto women from a young age; to end the evening with a prayer: peace is coming. peace is coming.

thank you. from my heart to yours, thank you. @florence @florenceandthemachine @florencemachinefanclub @the.covens.couture by @portablepoetics
