Day 16 at the Bargaining Table.

-Attended 34 Representation Meetings.
(AMP, PVRs, Pairing Feedback, P&C etc)
-Filed 8 New Arbitration Meetings (bringing the total to 39)
-Worked on 3 more Pending Arbitrations.
(Ongoing cases include unfair discipline such as Verbal Warnings, Written Warning Letters, PVRs)
-Attended 2 Meetings with the Company.
-Attended 4 Bargaining Table Sessions with the Company.
-Held 2 Bargaining Strategy Meetings with the Bargaining Committee.
-Held 3 Meetings with the Membership (GMMs and Info Sessions)

September 30th marks a National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, where across Canada, we honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, their families, and their communities. We also recognize the painful and lasting impacts of the residential school system and the ongoing effects of colonialism on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.
As union members, we believe in dignity, respect, equality, and solidarity for all. Reconciliation calls for us to recognize and learn from our history, and commit to meaningful change.

What are fume events? - Fume events occur when bleed air from the engines is contaminated with various unwanted chemicals such as engine oil, oils, de-icing fluid and more. While not all odours onboard an aircraft are hazardous, fume events are. They can be recognized by the distinct smell similar to dirty socks, old cheese, foul, musty, or acrid odours. These smells are distinct from the diesel/exhaust smell that frequently occurs during engine start ups.
Fume events have been flagged as a serious health concern for crew members by the WHO for 60 years, and is something crew should be aware of.
If you experience a fume event, you should immediately report it to the Captain or flight deck crew, and report it. You should report it on both the company SMS system, the OHS Committee, and to your Union, by using the GCARS e-form. Please use the QR code below, or find the link in our bio. by @portercomponent

A strike vote is a major step to take, and with a 99% In Favour result, it is a significant message from your members.
We have long worked alongside each other at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, and in more recent years all across Canada, and we are proud to stand in solidarity with you.

Happy Labour Day to all of our members across Canada!
Labour Day is a celebration of all workers and labour movements that have, and continue to fight for dignity, fairness, and respect in the workplace. We recognize the contributions of all workers past and present, and stand in solidarity with all workers and unions.
Many of our members spent time away from friends and family this long weekend to get our passengers where they were going safely, and your Union Reps were proud to support everyone on the line. At many of our crew bases this weekend, we met with members to talk about bargaining, support/resources from your union, and hand out some new Local 4061 swag!
