🎙️🏀 In June, WSHR students were invited to cover the NBA Draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Elio Portillo, our Head of Studio, recently debuted a mini-documentary capturing what that experience meant to the students and our media network. The coverage showcased professional-level work by student broadcasters and producers who have continued to excel: ⭐ Alyssa Tappin graduated as Sachem’s most decorated student journalist ⭐ Chase Biesiadecki was promoted to Sports Director ⭐ Elio Portillo was promoted to Head of Studio ⭐ AJ Bracero was promoted to Creative Director ⭐ Patrick Coursen was promoted to Head of Photography and Executive Producer Give students meaningful opportunities, the support to grow and the freedom to create, and they will show you what they can do. We’re proud of how this group has embraced every challenge and helped raise the standard for student media. Watch the mini-doc and see why WSHR continues to lead as Long Island’s #1 Student Media Network, delivering professional-grade reporting across platforms. #LongIsland #StudentMedia #NBA #Journalism by @portmakesvideos

Sachem North made its presence felt at the inaugural NFF 7-on-7 Showcase. Flaming Arrows standouts Evan Traola, Luke Unverzagt, and Jake Kuhlman represented the program against some of the region's top talent, competing at a high level throughout the showcase and proving they belong among the best. Traola put together a dominant performance on the defensive side of the ball, earning Outstanding Linebacker honors while also being named to the All-Showcase Team after consistently making plays throughout the event. Congratulations to Evan, Luke, and Jake for representing Sachem North with pride and continuing to raise the standard for Flaming Arrows football. The offseason work is showing, and the future continues to look bright. by @portmakesvideos
Sachem North football has always been defined by grit, toughness and an unwavering commitment to hard work. Those values are evident throughout the program, but they are especially embodied by the offensive and defensive lines — a group proudly known as The Hogs. The linemen are the foundation of the program, embracing the physicality, discipline and selflessness required to compete at the highest level. While their work often happens away from the spotlight, their impact is felt on every snap and in every success the team achieves. This year, both the JV and varsity squads represented Sachem North at the NFF Long Island Lineman Challenge, competing against some of Long Island’s top linemen. The varsity team continued its tradition of excellence, earning first place once again and reinforcing the standard of preparation, toughness and commitment that has become synonymous with Sachem North football. For a position group that takes pride in doing the work others may not see, The Hogs once again showed that championships are built through sacrifice, dedication and the relentless pursuit of excellence — in the trenches. by @portmakesvideos
