At @palazzostrozzi, Broken. The Power of the Fragment explores the meaning and power of the fragment in sculpture, taking visitors on a journey across centuries, cultures and artistic traditions.
From ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to Michelangelo and Rodin, and from Louise Bourgeois to contemporary artists such as Francesco Vezzoli and Danh Vo, more than 80 works explore the fragment not simply as what remains of something broken, but as an artwork with its own story, capable of preserving traces of memory, transformation and history.
Organised with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the exhibition offers a new way of looking at what is incomplete — and at everything a fragment can still reveal.
