What a pleasure and honor to have had this opportunity to be together with Julio Bocca following his steps and learning from him. Thank you as well to @africa_guzman for having me, all the ballet masters for the talks and heartwarming welcoming, for the technical department for the support and all the parts and sections of the theater that had me visiting and answering my hundreds questions a minute. Can’t also be more thankful for all the dance artists that are part of this majestic theater @balletteatrocolon , for opening up and sharing their days and work with me, you are all incredible! Thanks to @nataliacarrabotta for being my GPS around the theater and organizing my daily schedule, you are incredible! I got the opportunity to accompany the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colon while they were preparing a wonderful program choreographed and thought by @monterogoyo which, had also allowed be to presence all the process on stage, previous the premiere, thank you Goyo! Opportunity only possible through @positioningballet that has been a great experience that allows me to investigate more about the Artistic Direction role and its demands. A very special week at Scottish Ballet. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🩰 A huge thank you to Chris Hampson and to everyone across Scottish Ballet for such a thought-provoking, inspiring and genuinely enriching week. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to step into your world for a few days and to gain such a valuable insight into the work, thinking and people behind this extraordinary organisation. The strength of the values-led culture transpires through every part of Scottish Ballet, as does the ambition to keep questioning, innovating and finding new ways to tell meaningful 21st-century stories through dance. From the artistic work on stage and on screen, to the hugely impactful work happening across every department, it was inspiring to see such a clear sense of purpose running through the organisation. Thank you to everyone who so generously shared their time, opened up conversations, answered my endless questions and, perhaps even more importantly, raised plenty of new questions for me to take away and think about! Almost every conversation sparked another thought, another idea or another perspective, and I know I’ll be carrying many of those with me for a long time. It was also a real treat to catch the opening night of Emergence double bill and to see Scottish Ballet’s wonderfully versatile dancers in action in Julia Cheng’s brand new Entress, and the genius Crystal Pite’s timeless Emergence. A beautiful and powerful evening of dance, and such a brilliant way to experience the company’s artistic voice from the other side of the curtain! And as if that wasn’t enough, I also had the opportunity to catch a glimpse into the wonderfully rich and multifaceted education work at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland! An amazing week of learning, questioning, reflecting and developing…. Thank you, Chris, and thank you to every single person who made me feel so welcome. I’m leaving Glasgow with an enormous amount to think about, a renewed sense of curiosity, and so much admiration for the people and work of Scottish Ballet. Positioning Ballet Conference Amsterdam 2027   in collaboration with the Dance Europe Network   Artistic and Executive Directors of Ballet and Dance Companies to come together  The next Positioning Ballet Conference will take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 2-4  April 2027 hosted by Dutch National Ballet and in collaboration with the Dance Europe Network (DEN). This conference is open to the artistic and the administrative leaders of ballet/dance companies from around the world. This is the first gathering of Artistic and Executive Directors of ballet/dance companies to take place produced by Positioning Ballet Foundation in collaboration with Dance Europe Network.  This conference will focus on shared artistic and executive leadership, providing a dynamic forum for discussion on the most pressing issues facing ballet/dance companies today. Through guest speaker presentations, panel discussions and networking opportunities, participants will explore topics including programming and co-productions, audience development, fundraising, diversity and inclusion, governance, financial sustainability and emerging trends.  As ballet/dance companies continue to adapt to changing audience expectations, funding environments, and workforce dynamics, the conference aims to provide practical tools and strategic insights that support both artistic excellence and organisational resilience. By bringing together both the Artistic and Executive Directors of companies, the conference seeks to strengthen the ballet/dance ecosystem and promote a vibrant future for the art form.  Attendees will gain practical insights and actionable tools while building relationships with colleagues who share a commitment to artistic innovation and organisational excellence.   Priority booking period until 30 September 2026 for Positioning Ballet Foundation Affiliates, Dance Europe Network Members and attendees of previous conferences of either organisation. Introducing one of our two facilitators for our upcoming conference in Helsinki, Professor Christopher Bannermann, who will be facilitating the conference with Assis Carreiro @carreiroassis Christopher had a distinguished international career as a principal dancer and choreographer. He gained one of the first UK practice- research PhDs and was the first dance artist to achieve professorial status. He founded ResCen Research Centre at Middlesex University, and has served as Chair of Dance UK, Arts Council England’s Dance Panel - @aceagrams , and through membership of the Dance Forum for the UK’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport. He is a Founding Director of ArtsCross, a transcultural choreographic research initiative linking London, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei.
