Positive Somebody is excited to partner with NAMI Lansing for a Back‑to‑School Mental Wellness Workshop — a supportive morning designed to help families build resilience, strengthen emotional awareness, and create healthy routines for the school year. Parents will join NAMI Lansing for Parent Management Training, learning practical strategies to improve communication and reduce stress at home, while children ages 4-18 years old participate in Positive Somebody’s Weather Within coping activities to explore feelings and develop positive coping tools. With a light breakfast, hands‑on learning, and resources for both caregivers and kids, this workshop gives families the confidence and skills needed for a strong, connected, and mentally healthy start to the year.

Saturday, August 29th • 10:00 AM–12:30 PM

We’re also excited to welcome a wonderful lineup of local vendors to our Family Mental Health Fun Day, including Kona Ice, Lashleelee’s TieDye, Just Jenny Creations, My Eudimonia, J, J & Zay’s Soaps and More LLC, Anime and Beyond, Sheila Marie Body Care, Tiffany’s Sweet Treats, Strode Creations, Nature Bound Handmade Soaps, and more. Join us tomorrow for an interactive session of Weather Within, hosted in collaboration with the SP Women’s Center. We will take a close look at our personal wellness and explore how the concept of the daily four seasons impacts our core health pillars: nutrition, hydration, sleep, and exercise.
To help integrate these habits seamlessly into a busy schedule, a guest yoga instructor will guide us through very simple poses designed for your daily routine. We will also dive into a visual showcase of healthy foods and enjoy a creative activity where everyone can decorate their own reusable water bottles. Come ready to learn, create, and invest in your well-being.

A little bit of rain didn’t stop more than 80 golfers from playing a round for a good cause. Positive Somebody is working hard to build resilience in the children and families in our community. Teaching emotion regulation and positive coping skills strengthens communities and supports crime prevention, suicide prevention, and substance use disorder prevention.

We are so honored to be the benefiting nonprofit. Thank you to the Capital Area Chapter Credit Union for choosing us.

Also, a shout-out to Biggby Coffee 517 for supplying coffee, hot chocolate, and bagels for the golfers! Your dedication to donating to the community is commendable. by @positive_somebody
