✨ Matilda isn’t “just” another great musical, it’s a reminder that children aren’t trying to be difficult, they’re trying to be heard. ✨

And yes…THE Tim Minchin made a surprise appearance on press night (still pinching myself!)! 😮

Grateful to @voicefmradio and @mayflower.theatre for this opportunity!! 🥹

Ah! And check out the review I wrote (link in bio)

@timminchin my invitation for you to come on my radio show is always open 🌟 (Sometimes you have to be a little bit cheeky!)

Ps: The last photo is from the first time I saw Matilda in London (2023)…and somehow I ended up wearing the exact same jacket 😂

👋 Hey there! It is so nice to see you here!

I don’t usually talk much about myself but I guess it would be nice to share a few things about me here…

So here it goes!

✨ I was born and raised in Brazil but I have English, Italian, Portuguese, French and even German ancestries! My family name is Gibson (from Lancashire, UK) and I also have an Italian citizenship from my grandma’s side of the family. I love having mixed origins!

✨ I began my career in education when I was only 19 (phew, over two decades ago!) and I learned loads from every single school I worked at (sometimes, I learned what “not” to do…)

✨ I only worked at International and Bilingual schools back in São Paulo (Brazil), so I am super used to working with busy families from all around the globe! These schools were either British, American or Canadian and some of my pupils could speak 3 or even 4 languages at the age of 4!

✨ I moved to the UK in 2019 and I am so grateful for all the experiences I’ve been having here - I had no idea my life and mindset would change so much with this move!

✨ I decluttered about 95% of my belongings to move to the UK, which was the most liberating experience ever! This downsizing experience inspired me to learn more about intentional living.

✨ I had a beautiful rescue dog called Pepe who was the joy of our hearts for almost 15 years. He made everything feel extra special and I often post a photo of him in my stories to honour his memory (hope you love animals like I do!).

✨ Cycling and travelling are two of my favourite hobbies - hubby is always there with me! Swimming, colouring and drinking a nice cuppa are also in my top 5!

✨ My favourite tv series is Friends. Sometimes I just play it in the background while I get some work done.

🤍 What can you share about yourself? 🤍

Thank you for reading and I hope we can connect!

Becoming a parent, however that happens, is an exciting time.

Buying or hiring all of the kit, clothes, toys, books and more are all part of the process.

But how do you prepare your home for the arrival of a child whose already had one, sometimes many homes before. Who has already lived with parents or carers and is being taken away from everything they've ever known?

Lucy @positivelysimple.uk is an educator and routines & spaces specialist based in Southampton, and supports families, schools and organisations in creating more connected, respectful environments.

She's written a brilliant article for the magazine with so many nuggets for adopters about how to prepare your home for your new arrival.

January 6, 1907 - 119 years ago, Maria Montessori opened her first school, Casa dei Bambini.

The area, San Lorenzo - literally on the other side of the tracks in Rome - was considered at the time one of the most dangerous and poorest areas in Italy. You can still see not much has changed, apparently. The graffiti on the walls is quite telling.

The children were neglected, parents uneducated and overworked, everyone just trying to survive.

And yet, what Maria Montessori managed to do for those children was unheard of.

She had faith in them.
She gave them back their dignity.
She saw them as human beings, as people!
And she quickly understood that observing them would give her the answers to all of her questions.
All she needed to do was to follow the child.

And those children thrived. 🤍

I couldn’t visit inside the school - it was a weekend in August 2025, during the school holidays, when I was there - and I was actually lucky to have had some residents open the doors for me so I could get as close as possible to where it all started.

I cried countless tears. I wasn’t expecting this to be such an emotional moment, but it was.

The simplicity of the setting, the background of all those families and children, the legacy this space left to the world.

If children are (somewhat) respected today, and if you are able to see schools with open shelves, child-sized furniture, and sensorial and open-ended materials, you have one person to thank for it.

We will continue working to change the world through our children. Maria Montessori started the movement; we must honour it - it’s the least we can do.

✨ Take imperfect action! ✨

This is a reminder for myself as well - for sure! I often times hold back thinking that everything I attempt needs to go well and be as close to perfection as possible (although I know too well perfection doesn’t exist!).

I am learning on the go how to simply take imperfect action. You know the Nike slogan “Just do it”? That’s been my goal! I’ll just do it and then adjust my actions as things progress. At the end of the day, I am always grateful for taking action over not doing anything at all. Always.

How about you? What is holding you back from taking action and creating movement in your life? 🤍
