Dad Talk
Conversations with Houston.

Little talks create big memories. Being a father is the greatest joy in the world. While dads play a critical role in their child’s upbringing, we are also wise enough to recognize the teachings and role the child has on us. As a dad we are always on go for our family and we rarely take a moment to stop and reflect on the moments. Our kids teach us to slow down, enjoy the moments as they come, be patient, choose our words wisely, and be a reflection of who you want them to be. My father taught me many lessons and I am passing along that same wisdom to my son. I’ve learned so much from Houston and I am beyond blessed to be his Dad.🖤

This Dad Talk in the park has been an idea I’ve had ever since he was born. And I figured now is the perfect time to begin.

Three years ago, you made Mommy and Daddy the happiest people in the world. You are exactly what we prayed for, and more. Watching you grow into the smartest, kindest, most incredible little boy has been the greatest gift of our lives.

You’re my Cars & Coffee partner, my swim buddy, my Hot Wheels and Monster Jam collector, pizza boy, sneakerhead in training, race car show watcher, assistant juice maker, and my little sidekick in everything. The joy you bring into our home every single day is something we thank God for constantly.

And we can’t forget your best buddy Yoshi, who you love endlessly and occasionally torture.😂🐶. Watching you two grow up together is something we’ll cherish forever.

ICE on Stolen Land confronts the violence of immigration enforcement inside the United States. In recent ICE raids, civilians have been killed and families have been taken from their homes despite committing no violent crime. The image of the American flag melting into blood asks what national identity means when it is enforced through fear, detention, and death.

The phrase “No one is illegal on stolen land” spray-painted beneath the ice comes from the resistance of the streets, not the state. It rejects the idea that legality can exist on land taken by force, and points to the contradiction at the center of American borders.

Life Lately:
Heavy on the big chilling, family, minding my business, avoiding the ones that lack code, and building with those who share the same morals, values, and drive. Been reflecting heavy on the last year. As of 3 weeks ago today I turned 38 (My bad to those who I didn’t hit back on social. Ya’ll know I don’t bang with FB like that lol.) But as I get older things continue to become more clear. I gain more clarity as I get older, as I heal through various trials and tribulations. Pain. I’ve become jaded in a sense that I leave people dead where they stand when they show me who they are. It is what it is. Guarding my heart, my family, and what’s mine is all I care about. Protecting my peace and forever keeping good energy around. The Great Life. It’s a journey that I own. As is life. All that being said, I’m finally finding my way back to me. So here’s to the Journey. Here’s to 38. Here’s to continuing to find joy in new experiences, the things that I have always loved, being intentional with everything I do, and never letting a sucka get it twisted. 🖤😮‍💨🤞🏾💐🌹 taken in Vibing by @posixart
