I had printed this m249 trunnion months ago for a reference. I may end up incorporating its barrel lever. In a round about way I have just built a Saw with less parts. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

I know I keep going through different idea revisions, but I want to keep modification of existing parts at a minimum. A revision of this Stoner 63 lockup could be a solution. Its not an elegant solution, but this Hungarian KGKT simplified the lockup that both the SG43 and PK family utilized. If all else fails I might end up doing this with my build. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

Once again I am complicating this build. Either I scrap the Bren style and choose a different method of lockup or I modify the bolt carrier. Welp this monster might be getting a tad bit taller by @possumtacticaltx

My 1st attempt at making a bren barrel lockup cradle. Hopefully I measured correctly with my HF caliper and expert help from a 4 yr old. Why a Bren barrel? Correct bore diameter and they are still still cheap. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

MG47 Partisan update. M249 SAW copied gas tube as a place holder for the evening. Without changing the gas piston I could probably get away with a 13 inch barrel. For practicality sake I will probably shoot for 16 to 18 inches. A short RPD blaster barrel will eventually happen. I am leaning towards borrowing from the Bren/ZB28 family on barrel lockup. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

I printed a sleeve onto a barrel stub to see if the AK gas piston would be happy with a bren diameter barrel. It looks feasible so far. I swear this thing is begging me for a quick change barrel. Theoretically I could get a different bolt and barrel and up this thing to 762 nato. I will scale the ejection port just in case. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

Its not an AK without some rivets. I will rivet the Romy trunnion into a larger outer trunnion. I have to decide if i leave a cutout for the existing barrel pin location. Im trying to give future me less of a headache when I burn this thing down.I am so tempted to make this thing have an easily removable barrel. The Bren or FND style of lockup should be straight forward. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

These extensions I added onto this test trunnion were great for getting the proper bolt engagement height. It is now time for them to go and make a cradle to hold the real Romanian trunnion. I roughly have to make up a 1/4 inch on either side to interface with the receiver. taken in Tyler, Texas by @possumtacticaltx

Modeled after a PKM ejector. The final product will be cut into the side, but for testing an over rail ejector is easier to measure tolerances. I have tremendous respect for the engineers and draftsman who designed the weapons platforms that I am referencing. Dissecting something like the MG42 or M60 is humbling. Seeing this Autocannon replica from Helldivers 2 gives me an ambitious idea. This thing in 50 BMG would be a similar to what Barret experimented with for anti helicopter use. A toggle locked shoulder fired large bore rifle would be a hoot. Maybe I will build this monstrosity one day. I need to get some better tools and some funding.
