Hi friends! Long time no see!

It’s been a while since I’ve even been on this Instagram, let alone posted, and I’m not quite sure why now felt like the right time to resurface? But my life looks pretty different since I was last here.

Some big big hitters straight off the batt; I’m a cheesemonger for @mellischeeseltd now and I run a shop in the centre of Edinburgh. I moved for that, I bought a house (that needs so much work), and I got engaged and married! For highlights, see above.

When I was running Potluck, I was also freelancing for other creative businesses, writing for them and doing some social media stuff, and by the end, I was really isolated. I was working alone from home every day, and despite collaborating with lots of very talented people on lots of dream projects, the lack of in person human connection had taken its toll. I didn’t realise until then, but I’m a chatter! I need small talk and connection!

I went back into working around the public and at the same time, cold turkey on social media. Unfortunately with that came cold turkey with people I still wanted to have conversations with— if you’ve sent me a message/email I didn’t get back to, I’m sorry, I absolutely still want to speak to you, I just couldn’t face it at that moment in time. I’d love to catch up soon💌

Creating the magazine was so so much fun, and I’m so proud of the work that was published and getting to help get it out into the world. I’m in no rush to get it up and running again; with everything else going on in my life, I unfortunately can’t balance that too. But I’m tentatively taking a step back, into the food and community that came along with the magazine. I’ve missed you so much💗 by @potluckzine

Hello friends! How are we? It’s been a while!

Somehow, the break I took from making Potluck that was meant to be 3 months became 6 in the blink of an eye, BUT I’m excited to say we’re getting back to making issues very soon. Keep an eye out for new call for submissions and other opportunities to be involved coming up!

Hey friends! Just a little reminder that we’re advising to get your orders in by this Friday (9th) if you’re in the UK and after a copy of Potluck before Christmas. The shop will stay open over the festive period, but orders will be delayed in sending whilst our dispatchers take some well-needed time off too!🌟 by @potluckzine

Potluck’s having a sale!

This weekend only, we’re taking 20% off all orders over £25. So if you’re looking to complete your collection or gift copies for Christmas, now’s the time✨

We very rarely discount our issues (actually never, margins are tight in print!) but we’re looking to clear some room and raise some funds so we can do cool things when we relaunch in the new year!

Up on the website today, a brilliant piece from @hejsandy from our Feast issue, posing one of life’s most interesting questions; what food would you live in?

It’s about the silly conversations you have with friends, cooking together and the high suitability that the squishiness of mochi provides as a living space🥟

Give it a read on the website now!

“Food, especially to diaspora communities, is everything. It is home, fuel, and memory. It is happiness, sadness, and nostalgia. Is this why we feel so enraged when our memories are not being honoured properly?”

Today on the website, we’re sharing this brilliant think piece by Aditi Jehangir from our Authenticity issue! She talks what cultural appropriation means to the communities being ripped off, internet outrage and how we can cook food from different places in a way that shows respect.

Head to the website to read, or pick up a copy of Issue 6!

One of my favourite layouts from our Snacks issue for a brilliant insight by @csamfood into what a chef actually eats and snacks on during a working week🥄🥄🥄🥄

We’re going to get back to sharing articles from our previous on our website this week- every Sunday there’ll be new work to find there. In the meantime, there’s a bunch of brilliant work on there already- have a read or pick up a copy of the Snacks issue on there🥨 by @potluckzine

A little announcement: we’re taking a short break in making new issues of Potluck☕️

Until the end of the year, we’ll be taking a step back from publishing new issues and instead be sharing some of the amazing work we’ve previously only published in print on our website for everyone to read! Our shop’ll still be there too, if you fancy picking up a physical copy.

Over the past 2 and a half years, Potluck has developed really naturally from a way for me to find out what other people are cooking during that first lockdown to what it is now. It’s been GREAT and I’ve loved seeing what it’s become. But it also means we haven’t really had a chance to take a step back and plan.

I’ll be taking the next few months to work out what Potluck should be now (don’t worry, still focusing on personal stories and the work of new and emerging writers) and taking the time to get behind the scenes organised before we make the next one.

Excited to see what it becomes✨ by @potluckzine
